Kellen Mond and the Aggies should rebound from a lackluster outing against LSU, as they hope to mount a late rally for the College Football Playoff.

You have to give John James Fisher Jr. credit for the work he’s done this season. Oh, that name doesn’t ring a bell? Perhaps “Jimbo” Fisher sounds a bit more familiar. Yes, even when college football betting is your passion, you learn something new every day. More than anything, I’m just glad Fisher doesn’t really have “Jimbo” on his birth certificate. Personal preference, I suppose.

The Aggies would prefer to make the college football playoff, but they will need some help and can’t afford to let their guard down this weekend against Auburn.

Here are our best college football free picks and predictions for No. 6 Texas A&M at Auburn, with kickoff scheduled to get under way on Saturday, December 5 at 12:00 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

If it weren’t for that loss to Alabama, then Texas A&M would be squarely in the mix for the national championship. As it is, the Aggies are on the outside looking in, with a major bowl game in their future. Still, they showed that their explosive offense can sputter at times. Sure, they cruised past LSU 20-7 last week in college station, but their offense was held to just 267 total yards, and running back Isaiah Spiller accounted for 141 of that total on 27 carries.

Last week’s “Iron Bowl” won’t go down as a classic between Auburn and Alabama. The Tigers were dominated by the Crimson Tide in a 42-13 defeat, and quarterback Bo Nix simply hasn’t taken the “next step” that college football fans thought we would see this season. Against Alabama, he threw for only 227 yards and scored a late touchdown.

This line opened with the Aggies favored by just over a field goal, and bettors jumped all over that number, with A&M now laying a full touchdown. I’d use caution if you didn’t get the early number, but I’m rolling with an Aggies team that was won five straight, including their last four by at least 11 points.

PREDICTION: Texas A&M -7.0 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

Kellen Mond struggled against a lackluster defense last week, going only 11-34 for 105 yards, and he seems due for a bounce-back effort. Regardless, the Aggies will likely continue feeding the rock to Spiller, and the Under is 5-0 in Auburn’s last five games, so that’s where I am siding as well.

PREDICTION: Under 50.5 (-110)

Team Total Pick

Auburn certainly has plenty of athletes, but as we saw against the Tide, the Tigers struggle against above-average defenses—and A&M’s bunch is ranked 26th in the country. I just don’t trust Nix to put up the necessary points, and the Aggies will remain motivated with the possibility that they can backdoor into the playoff.

PREDICTION: Auburn team total Under 20.5 (-102)
