Betting Trend to Know

Boise State is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games when favored by 10 points or more, while UNLV has yet to cover a spread in five games this season. Find more NCAA betting trends for Boise State vs. UNLV.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

Boise State was handed a humbling loss by BYU a few weeks back, but it was without starting QB Hank Bachmeier for that game. Now, Bachmeier is back and healthy for a Broncos team that has hammered their Mountain West competition. Boise State is 4-0 SU (3-1 ATS) in conference play, averaging 45.8 points per game, with an average victory margin of 21.8 points.

Having Bachmeier under center is huge for the Broncos, but even more important could be the fact that they got running back Andrew Van Buren going last week. Boise State fed the junior back 27 times against Hawaii and he responded with 113 yards and two scores. It was the third time in four games he's had a multi-touchdown outing.

They’ll go against a UNLV defense that ranks 114th in total defense and is currently giving up over 250 rushing yards per game, and over 8.5 yards per passing attempt.

Yeah, things have not gone well for the Rebels. What's the old saying? “Good teams win, but great teams cover?” Well, the Rebels are the opposite of that, going 0-4-1 ATS this season. UNLV’s biggest problem has been its offense, scoring more than 20 points just once and losing by margins of 31, 17, 13, 18 and 28 points. QB Max Gillam has thrown for just 599 yards in five games, while the running game is averaging just 3.5 yards per attempt.

When you see a number this large, it can sometimes be tough to get behind the favorite, but there is just no way you can feel confident in putting money on a UNLV team this bad. Lay the points.

PREDICTION: Boise State -26.5 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

While Boise State hasn’t had to sweat too much in its Mountain West games, it's still given up a fair amount of points. The Broncos are allowing nearly 30 points per game and even though the Rebels are not a great offense, it’s not out of the question that they could put up 20 points or so against a Boise State defense that's allowing more than 200 rushing yards per game. The Over is also 4-0 in the Broncos' four conference games this season and 3-1 in the Rebels' last four home games.

PREDICTION: Over 60.5 (-110)

First Half Pick

Appropriately, the Broncos have come flying out of the gates this season, averaging 24 first-half points per game. Meanwhile, the Rebels manage just 9.2 first-half points per game.

Take the Broncos to get off to another good start in this one and head into the break with a fair lead.

PREDICTION: Boise State first half -17.5 (+100)
