Today's 2023 edition of the Peach Bowl between No. 11 Mississippi and No. 10 Penn State should be an entertaining matchup between two solid football teams living in the conference shadows of powerhouses Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State.

Unlike a typical postseason bowl game, neither program has been heavily impacted by the transfer portal nor seen a significant rash of opt-outs. As a result, the college football odds and prop markets are robust for this game, and we’ve found three props we know you will like.

Join me as I break down these bowl game odds and give my best Peach Bowl free college football picks for Mississippi and Penn State player props on Saturday, December 30.

Mississippi vs Penn State player props

Prop bet #1: Big afternoon for Allen

Penn State sophomore running back Kaytron Allen has produced a terrific season rushing the football for the Nittany Lions. He’s coming off a 137-yard outing against Michigan State and has a favorable matchup Saturday that Penn State can exploit. Allen has shared time in the backfield with Nicholas Singleton, but the young running back from Norfolk, Virginia, has eclipsed 67.5 yards or more in his last five and eight of his dozen games this season.

Allen has been strong for Penn State this season, rushing for 851 yards on 162 attempts for an average of 5.3 yards per attempt. Allen has cleared 5.3 yards per attempt in three of his last four and has a tasty matchup with a Mississippi rushing defense, allowing 151.9 rushing yards per game and 48th-best 3.9 yards per attempt.

The Rebels may not allow many yards per attempt, but they have allowed 16 rushing plays of over 30 yards or more, and Allen is known for his big rushing plays, scampering for seven plays of over 17 yards. Finally, Penn State is going to run the football. It’s what they do; they rank 27th nationally in rushing yards per game. The Rebels' weakness is the rush, and I expect Allen to break off a couple of big ones and clear his rushing prop.

Kaytron Allen prop: Over 67.5 rushing yards (-115 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #2: Allar miscues

Penn State signal caller Drew Allar has produced a fine season in his first full year as the starting quarterback of the Nittany Lions. The Medina, Ohio native has thrown for 2336 yards with 23 scoring strikes and just one interception on 349 attempts. That was good for a 61.1% completion rate, and the young gunslinger has recorded multiple passing touchdown games in five of his dozen matchups.

Allar has a difficult matchup Saturday against a Mississippi secondary surrendering the 59th-fewest passing yards per game but also boasts a 35th-best 12 interceptions this season. They’ve also defended 42 passes, and we should expect this defense to look to make a big play or two against Allar.

Finally, the Nittany Lions have protected Allar well this season. Still, star offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu has opted out, and that could leave a hole that could force a couple of quick throws, which would be costly. The Rebels have defended 41 passes with a dozen picks and will get their 13th pick on Saturday.

Drew Allar prop: Over 0.5 interceptions (+105 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #3: Big gains for Lambert-Smith

Junior wideout KeAndre Lambert-Smith is the Nittany Lions' leading receiver, and paying just -115 to clear 39.5 receiving yards is a decent price for a receiving prop number he’s already cleared seven times this season.

Lambert-Smith is a favorite target of Allan's. The Norfolk native led Penn State with 53 receptions for a team-high 673 receiving yards and four scoring strikes. He struggled his final two games with some injury, but he should be healthy and ready to go big against a somewhat leaky Rebels secondary.

Lambert-Smith meets a Rebels defense, allowing a scant 7.1 passing yards per attempt. The Rebels have allowed 27 passing plays of 30+ yards this season. That should suit the Nittany Lions wideout as he has four plays of 30+ yards this season that helped fuel the five games he gained 74+ receiving yards. Finally, the game will be played indoors, which typically means more passing. Lambert-Smith is finally healthy and has cleared 39.5 receiving yards in seven of his 11 matchups, and I expect him to have gone over 39.5 receiving yards against Mississippi.

KeAndre Lambert-Smith prop: Over 39.5 receiving yards (-115 at DraftKings)
