Oklahoma vs South Carolina Prediction, Picks & Odds for October 18 — College Football Week 8

South Carolina won't clear its modest 17.5-point team total because Oklahoma’s defense has allowed more than 18 points only once this season, and it will keep the Gamecocks bottled up all day.

The Oklahoma Sooners look to return to their winning ways when they travel to Columbia for an SEC matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks offense has struggled this season, and my Oklahoma vs. South Carolina predictions expect those woes to continue against the Sooners' elite defense.

Read on for my college football picks for Saturday, October 18.

Oklahoma vs South Carolina prediction

Oklahoma vs South Carolina best bet: South Carolina team total Under 17.5 (-112)

The South Carolina Gamecocks' offensive issues run deep, and the Oklahoma Sooners' defense is built to expose every one of them.

The Gamecocks allow 3.6 sacks per game and rank near the bottom of the SEC in total offense at just 22.3 points per contest.

Quarterback LaNorris Sellers has shown flashes, but constant pressure and a shaky offensive line have stunted his development.

Now he faces an Oklahoma defense ranked second in the SEC in sacks (4.2 per game) and allows only 25% conversions on third down.

The Sooners allow just 144 passing yards and 78 rushing yards per game, suffocating opponents by controlling the gaps and disguising their relentless pressure.

Unless South Carolina can generate points off turnovers or trick plays, sustained drives will be few and far between against this Oklahoma stop unit.
Oklahoma’s defense has allowed more than 18 points only once this season, and it will keep the Gamecocks bottled up all day.
