The North Carolina Tar Heels and UCF Knights meet for the first time on Saturday afternoon, and this game has high-scoring potential written all over it.

Both groups' strengths play right into their opponents' weaknesses, and my North Carolina vs. UCF predictions expect these offenses to light up the scoreboard.

Read on for my
college football picks for Saturday, September 20.

North Carolina vs UCF prediction

North Carolina vs UCF best bet: Over 47.5 (-110)

I believe we’ll see points galore when the North Carolina Tar Heels visit the UCF Knights on Saturday afternoon.

UCF’s defense ranks No. 18 nationally on third downs (26%), but while their defensive discipline can end drives, but it doesn’t erase the Knights' bigger flaw, which is a run defense giving up 162.5 yards per game.

North Carolina’s improving offense under Bill Belichick should be able to exploit that weakness. They average 130 rushing yards per game and can sustain drives on the ground, which should allow them to finish possessions with points.

Meanwhile, UCF’s offense averages 491 total yards per game regardless of who is under center. They face a UNC defense ranked 115th in third-down conversions and should keep the chains moving, putting points on the scoreboard against a North Carolina defense that hasn’t allowed a TD in its previous two games.

Playing at home, the Knights can put 30+ on the board themselves. Even if the Tar Heels' offense isn’t dominant, they’ll still be successful enough rushing the football to push this game past this modest point total.

North Carolina vs UCF same-game parlay

The best bet is the Over. I expect both teams to put points on the board against two defenses with glaring weaknesses that these offenses can and will exploit.

Those defensive vulnerabilities should allow both teams to clear their team totals, and I’ll also add UCF to cover the spread as the offensively-powerful Knights should outscore the Tar Heels by at least seven points.
