A low-scoring slog looms in today's Minnesota vs. Indiana expert picks as two top-shelf defenses measure up against equally abysmal offenses.

Our college football analysts all expect the Under to come into play, while the underdog Golden Gophers should cover a 20.5-point spread while points remain hard to come by on Saturday, Oct. 31.

For an alternate take, Nick Galaida explains why he likes the Over in his Minnesota vs. Indiana predictions.

Rob Paul’s expert pick: Under 41.5

This could feel like an old-school Big Ten West game with the expected lack of scoring between an inept Minnesota offense and a broken Indiana attack. I would take the Under on a game total as low as 39.5, given how few points I expect the Golden Gophers to score.

The Hoosiers haven't scored more than 20 points in three straight games, but they haven't allowed more than 19 either. Their front seven is one of the best in the country, helping them rank in the Top 20 nationally in points per opportunity (2.81) and havoc rate (19.6%).

That spells trouble for mistake-prone Drake Lindsey, who has nearly as many turnover-worthy plays (eight) as touchdown passes (nine) this season. In five Power Four games, the Golden Gophers are averaging just 17.2 points per game, failing to score 14-plus points three times.

This is the best defense Minnesota has faced. The Hoosiers are one of four P4 teams with 7+ interceptions and 27+ sacks. But Indiana's offense is similarly ugly, especially with banged-up Josh Hoover still playing. Hoover is completing just 50% of his passes in his last three games, with as many turnover-worthy plays as TD passes (three).

Colby Marchio’s expert pick: Under 41.5

I nearly threw up looking at a 20-point spread paired with a 41-point total.

I’ll happily take the Under, especially with Hoover’s lingering injury and the possibility that he won’t be fully healthy. Head coach Curt Cignetti will likely lean on his very talented ground attack, which should milk the clock from start to finish (which is why I like Indiana RB Turbo Richard as one of my favorite Minnesota vs. Indiana prop targets).

The Golden Gophers could come out still recovering from celebrating their win over Iowa last week. They’ll meet one of the country's most suffocating defensive units, as the Hoosiers rank inside the Top 15 in points allowed, yards allowed per play, and total yards allowed per game.

The Hoosiers are known for playing fast out of the gate, but if Hoover is banged up, I expect this to turn into a very slow, classic Big Ten rock fight.

Chris Vasile’s expert pick: Minnesota +20.5

Indiana is the better team, but laying nearly three touchdowns against a Minnesota defense ranked 17th nationally in yards allowed feels excessive.

The Hoosiers have played three consecutive one-score games, while the Gophers just held Iowa to 10 points.

Minnesota's offense is a concern, but with a total of just 41.5, points should come at a premium. I'll take the Gophers to keep this competitive.
