These teams both lean heavily on the ground game, and while Georgia Tech should still come away with a victory, Wake Forest can keep it within the spread.

The ACC takes center stage on Saturday when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Despite the Yellow Jackets being nearly two-touchdown road favorites, my Georgia Tech vs. Wake Forest predictions anticipate the Demon Deacons covering the number.

Read on for my college football picks for Saturday, September 27.

Georgia Tech vs Wake Forest prediction

Georgia Tech vs Wake Forest best bet: Wake Forest +13.5 (-102)

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons meet in an ACC matchup, and I’m seeing a closer battle than the odds board shows.

Both defenses are stronger against the pass than against the run, which suggests a slower, more clock-grinding contest.

Georgia Tech allows 155.5 rushing yards per game, while Wake Forest allows 132, meaning both teams will likely lean heavily on their ground attacks.

Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King will be forced to use his legs more often against a disciplined Wake secondary.

At the same time, Wake’s Demond Claiborne should get the touches necessary to keep the Demon Deacons on the move and the ball from King's hands.

Neither team gives up much on third down. Georgia Tech allows 35% conversions, Wake Forest 37%, which also favors a tighter scoreline.

With both defenses built to take away the pass, the ground game keeps Wake Forest within the number.
