Perhaps no team feels as good as the Florida State Seminoles do heading into their ACC slate.
The No. 8-ranked ‘Noles will take on the Virginia Cavaliers in a matchup featuring plenty of offensive firepower.
Below are our three favorite college football player props and Florida State vs Virginia predictions for Friday, September 26.
Florida State vs Virginia props for Week 5
Castellanos o172.5 pass yds (-114)
Morris u1.5 pass TDs (-146)
Sawchuk o44.5 rush yds (-114)
Prop bet #1: Tommy Castellanos Over 172.5 passing yards
After having his leg rolled up during FSU’s 66-10 thrashing vs Kent State, Florida State Seminoles QB Tommy Castellanos appears to have a clean bill of health for Friday night.
The guy giving the diagnosis? Castellanos, who told reporters he feels 100%.
That’s the good news, but perhaps the books aren’t quite up to speed, as his passing line is a paltry 172.5 yards against the Cavaliers.
It’s a number Castellanos has cruised past in each of his last two games, throwing for 200+ both times.
In each of his two previous meetings with UVA, Castellanos has also topped this mark.
Prop bet #2: Chandler Morris Under 1.5 passing touchdowns
It’s been a solid start to the year for Virginia Cavaliers senior pivot Chandler Morris, who had his best passing day of the season last time out, shredding Stanford for 380 yards and four TDs.
However, before that outburst, he had been held to four total TD passes, going Under his 1.5 TD line in back-to-back starts.
Now he faces an FSU defense that ranks third in the ACC in yards against and ranks inside the Top 35 with just three passing TDs allowed.
Only the Alabama Crimson Tide, who FSU smoked 31-17 in Week 1, have thrown for 2+ TDs in a game on them this season.
Prop bet #3: Gavin Sawchuk Over 44.5 rushing yards
The Seminoles have a bevy of running options at their disposal, with seven different players already with at least 10 carries on the season.
Of those players, Castellanos has the lowest yards per carry average, which sits at a healthy 5.1.
While the pivot also has the most carries, Gavin Sawchuk is right behind him, the only other Seminoles back who cracked the 20+ carry plateau (25).
So, it’s slightly surprising that the books have his rushing yards total at 44.5 against Virginia.
Sawchuk had his best running day against Kent State in Week 3, carrying 11 times for 97 yards and two scores.
It’s the first time this year he had double-digit carries, and on a team with such depth at the position, it’s the highest single-game running total of the year.
Virginia’s run D is 13th in the ACC, so as long as FSU commits to Sawchuk, this Over shouldn’t be an issue.
