Oklahoma State and interim head coach Doug Meacham will hope to get the season going in the right direction when they meet Baylor.

My Oklahoma State vs. Baylor predictions break it all down as I bring you my college football picks for Saturday, September 27.

Baylor vs Oklahoma State prediction

Baylor vs Oklahoma State best bet: Oklahoma State +20.5 (-105)

The big story coming into this matchup is the firing of Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy and the immediate aftereffects it will have on the team’s performance on the field.

The problem, however, is that most of these reactions are subjective. Some teams respond well, some simply don’t — especially at the college level.

With that in mind, I’ve elected to keep that mostly away from my analysis but still find myself backing the Cowboys at +20.5. It was a projected number that I had closer to 18.5.

The reason is relatively simple. I think there’s a path where OSU can control the pace and shorten the game, thus keeping its horrific defense and an efficient Baylor offense from taking control. How? Running the ball.

We won’t pretend that the OSU offense has been good, but if you had to pick a place where it could get wins, it’s in the rushing attack. They’ll come into the season with an EPA in the top half nationally from a rushing perspective, facing a defense ranked 105th nationally.

Sometimes the analysis can be nuanced and complicated, but in this instance, I think this is simple: This number is too high given the expected game flow and the efficient running I expect from Oklahoma State.

Baylor vs Oklahoma State same-game parlay

We’re playing an extremely correlated parlay that follows the logic of my best bet.

I expect the Cowboys to control the pace from the onset so I’ll take them to cover the 1Q spread.

I’ll pair it with the Under as I projected a number of 56.5.
