The appetite for a conference championship has changed in recent years. The victory is less about hoisting a trophy and more about putting a final stamp on your playoff resume. The stakes are not necessarily lower, just different.

The 2025 slate of conference title games features a Big Ten battle between the two best teams in the country and a rematch between Georgia and Alabama. I pick a side in my ATS college football picks below.

Expert Championship Week CFB ATS picks

North Texas (-2.5) vs Tulane: North Texas North Texas -2.5

Eric Morris has led North Texas to the top of the country in both scoring offense and total offense. Tulane's had a great year, but I'm not sure it can match that level of offensive pressure.

BYU vs Texas Tech (-12.5): Texas Tech Texas Tech -12.5

A bet on Texas Tech -12.5 is a bet on this game going exactly how the first matchup did. BYU went 3-for-14 on third down in that game and didn't score points until midway through the fourth quarter.

Georgia (-2.5) vs Alabama: Alabama Alabama +2.5

Kirby Smart is now 1-7 against Alabama, including a 24-21 home loss back in September, and for as unconvincing as the Tide looked in the Iron Bowl, the Bulldogs looked even more so against Georgia Tech.

Duke vs Virginia (-3.5): Virginia Virginia -3.5

Virginia went to Durham and outgained Duke by nearly 300 yards in a game they led 31-3 through three quarters and won by 17. Duke lucking into the title game does not make this a good football team.

Indiana vs Ohio State (-4.5): Ohio State Ohio State -4.5

This will be Ohio State's biggest test thus far, and Indiana has needed tight wins over Iowa and Penn State to stay undefeated. That says to me that the Hoosiers can be got; I'm not sure the same can be said about the Buckeyes.
