Much of sports gambling is not based on one team’s strengths, but on another’s weaknesses. Good luck finding any weaknesses to fade between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Still, my Indiana vs. Ohio State predictions and college football picks will trust the Buckeyes’ superior talent and depth, not to mention experience. Kickoff between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the land comes at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 6.

Indiana vs Ohio State predictions for the Big Ten Championship

Who will win the Big Ten Championship?

We live in a world where it would not be terribly shocking to see Indiana upset Ohio State, win the Big Ten title, and be the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. A moneyline underdog of +158 has an implied chance of winning of about 40%. Nothing that has a 40% chance should be considered terribly shocking.

Yet, until we see it happen, will anyone believe it can?

Ohio State has more talent, depth, and experience. Trusting the Buckeyes is the only logical approach in the Big Ten championship.

Indiana vs Ohio State best bet: Ohio State -4.5 (-105)

Good luck finding a flaw in either the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Indiana Hoosiers. Both at 12-0, the two have combined to win just three one-score games this entire season. They blow out opponents, and they do not let stress linger.

But when it comes to exceeding expectations, the Buckeyes do so far more often than the Hoosiers. Ohio State has covered the spread in nine of its 10 games against Power Four competition this year, compared to just a 5-4 ATS record against Power Four foes for Indiana.

The Buckeyes’ ease in dispensing any and all comers should be only strengthened with far fewer nerves remaining. After winning the National Championship last year, no greater stressor existed for Ohio State than the Michigan boogeyman.

But the Buckeyes got rid of that monkey on their back with ease last week. There should be no stress remaining on Ohio State, unlike for Indiana, which very much still needs to prove it belongs in these title conversations.

Indiana vs Ohio State same-game parlay

In his last 16 games, beginning with "The Game" at the end of the 2024 regular season, Jeremiah Smith has reached the end zone in 12 of them. Two of the exceptions came in five-score blowouts. In a moment that matters most, there are few easier cheat codes than Smith.

Increasingly, Bo Jackson may also be considered a cheat code. The freshman running back has cleared this prop in five straight games. More impressively, he has rushed for at least 105 yards in four of those games; Jackson is doing far more than barely scraping by this yardage mark.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
