We were robbed of a Golden State Warriors comeback season when Klay Thompson tore his Achilles in the offseason, but the Dubs aren’t giving up.

In fact, the Warriors are starting to find their new identity to the tune of a 9-8 record through the early part of the NBA season. The Warriors will look to improve on that record and complete a mini-sweep of the Minnesota Timberwolves as 9-point NBA betting favorites Wednesday night in the Bay Area.

Check out our NBA free picks and predictions for Timberwolves vs. Warriors on January 27, with tip-off set for 8:00 pm ET.

NBA Sharp Money and Line Movement Report

By Patrick Everson

Golden State opened -9 at PointsBet USA and moved to -8.5 this afternoon, where the number stands as of 7 p.m. ET, three hours before tipoff. Despite the dip down, ticket count and money are both running 4/1 on the Warriors. The total initially fell from 228.5 to 228, then bounced up to 230.5, with ticket count and money both hovering around 3/1 on the Over.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

The Warriors ended a two-game losing streak by spanking the Timberwolves 130-108 as 8.5-point favorites when these two last met on Monday, thanks to another vintage Steph Curry night. The former two-time MVP put up 36 points while going 7-12 from long range.

The Warriors also got solid contributions from Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr., which has turned Golden State into the 13th highest-scoring team in the NBA. At the same time, Draymond Green continues to direct traffic on the defensive end of the floor, which has been a big part of their Warriors’ resilience. They rank fifth in opponent field goal percentage and 18th in defensive rating.

Meanwhile, life has been tough for the T-Wolves without Karl-Anthony Towns. The All-star center has only played in four games this season due to injuries and COVID-19, and the team certainly is not the same without him.

The Timberwolves are just 2-10 without Towns – with an average scoring margin of -12.8 in those games – going 4-8 ATS in the process. It’s always hard to put up a repeat performance and beat the same team twice in two games, but it’s almost impossible to fade the Warriors against a T-wolves team that is playing some of the worst basketball in the Association at the moment. Even at this high number.

PREDICTION: Warriors -9 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

The total for this Western Conference matchup is on the board at 228.5 and that might seem low, considering the fact the teams combined for 238 points last time out. But there’s a good reason for that.

While the Warriors had a nice 130-point outburst, they still average just 112.6 points per game and that scoring can fluctuate quite a bit. One night they’ll put up 130, the next 104. On top of that, while Minnesota has been quite awful at a lot of things, they are probably a little better on defense than they showed on Monday night. Not much better, but a little.

The T-wolves offense is another thing altogether. Minnesota averages 107.1 points per game but ranks dead last in offensive efficiency and 29th in offensive rating. On top of that, it sounds like they will once again be without D’Angelo Russell. With the Warriors’ sneaky solid defense, this one should sneak below the number.

PREDICTION: Under 228.5 (-110)

Player Prop

Another area where the T-wolves miss KAT is on the glass, as they rank dead last in the NBA in rebounding percentage. The Warriors aren’t a great rebounding team themselves, but you mix the T-wolves' struggles with the boards and with the fact they are one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA and there should be plenty of opportunities for some Warriors players to clean the glass in this one.

The player in the best position to take advantage of that could be Oubre. The Dubs’ wing averages 5.5 rebounds per game, so it’s nice to see that his rebounding total was posted at that exact number. He’s gone Over that 5.5 boards three times in the last four games, which includes pulling down six boards last time out against Minnesota.

PREDICTION: Kelly Oubre Jr. Over 5.5 Rebounds (-130)

Timberwolves vs Warriors Betting Card

  • Warriors -9 (-110)
  • Under 228.5 (-110)
  • Kelly Oubre Jr. Over 5.5 Rebounds (-130)
