After coming away with a 121-117 upset victory over the Golden State Warriors as 13.5-point road underdogs, the Indiana Pacers will now look to do it again Saturday against the Phoenix Suns. The Suns own the best record in the entire NBA, so it’s going to be extremely difficult for the Pacers to hang around again.

Will Phoenix earn a blowout win over Indiana to make it six victories in a row for last year’s Western Conference champs? Continue reading our Pacers vs. Suns NBA picks and predictions for January 22 to find out.

Pacers vs Suns picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Pacers are 8-19 against the spread after playing back-to-back road games over the last two seasons, and they’ve also won two in a row in which they were expected to get beaten down pretty badly. With that in mind, the team is likely due for an off performance against the Suns tonight. Phoenix also takes every game rather seriously and is returning home after a five-game road trip. The fans at the Footprint Center should be pretty jacked up to see them again, and that’ll give the Suns a nice home-court advantage.

Also, without Sabonis and Turner in this game, the Suns are off the hook at the position they’d be weakest at with Deandre Ayton possibly absent. That means that they’d still be capable of winning big if he’s out, but the big man could dominate if he ends up taking the floor in this one.

Regardless of whether or not Ayton’s out there, the Suns backcourt of Chris Paul and Devin Booker is on fire right now. Both players should be able to light it up in this one, even if it’s for three or so quarters before ultimately slowing down in a lopsided game. Phoenix should also get some pretty big contributions from guys like Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and Cam Payne. All of them have taken turns playing well recently.

Prediction: Suns -12 (-110)

The Over is 6-2 in the last eight games that the Suns have played as home favorites, and it’s also 27-11 when the Pacers are trying to avenge a same-season loss since the start of last season. On top of that, the Over is 5-3 in the last eight games that Indiana has played, while it had also hit in Phoenix’s two previous games before the squad ran into the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks are one of the best defensive teams in basketball, but this one should get back to being higher scoring.

This also is a game in which the two teams might play at a fast pace. Indiana has turned things up over the last few games, and that would be just fine with Phoenix. The Suns are sixth in the league in pace this season, so they’re completely fine with an up-tempo outing. Phoenix will look to run it up on Indiana and that will result in the Pacers getting their shots, too.

Prediction: Over 219.5 (-110)

The last time Bridges faced the Pacers, the young forward had just four points on 1-of-6 shooting from the floor and he missed both of his attempts from behind the 3-point line. Bridges seemingly lost his confidence over a three-game stretch from January 14 to January 17, but snapped out of it by scoring 12 points with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in a win over the Mavericks last game.

With Bridges feeling good about his game again, look for him to turn in a solid performance against the Pacers in this one. In a game that’s expected to be somewhat lopsided, the Suns shouldn’t need to rely as heavily on Booker or Paul, giving players like Bridges the chance to shine a little more on offense. Bridges is also far too good of a shooter not to break out of his slump from deep soon. He’s just 3 for 19 from deep over the last five games, but he’s a 37.6% shooter from the outside in his career.

Pick: Mikal Bridges Over 11.5 points (-120)
