The New York Knicks will try to snap a three-game losing streak as they host the Sacramento Kings at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night as small faves in the NBA odds

The Knicks have fallen to fifth place in the Eastern Conference, and have the chance to host a first-round playoff series or fall all the way to the play-in tournament, depending on how they finish the season. Sacramento is currently eighth in the Western Conference but is just one game out of fifth.

New York has only suffered one four-game losing streak this season and will be playing hard to avoid another at this critical point in the season. We’ll discuss what that means for bettors in our free NBA picks and predictions for Kings vs. Knicks on Thursday, April 4.

Kings vs Knicks predictions

My best bet: Knicks -3.5 (-105 at BetMGM)

The New York Knicks have spent most of the second half looking like one of the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference. Jalen Brunson (27.8 points per game) has been terrorizing opponents, and everyone knows that New York will be even better when OG Anunoby (14.5 ppg) is healthy. When healthy, this is a tough matchup for any playoff opponent.

Of course, the health issues are what have kept the Knicks from fully reaching their potential. Anunoby is still dealing with an elbow injury, and Randle has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Still, even without those key parts, the Knicks have won seven of their last 11, even after the recent losing streak.

That losing streak is hardly embarrassing. New York would like the overtime loss on the road to the San Antonio Spurs back, but a one-point defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder is nothing to get upset about, and the Miami Heat are a tough team to beat on their home court.

The Sacramento Kings are coming off two straight wins at home over the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers. Domantas Sabonis (19.6 ppg) remains the most consistent double-double machine in the NBA and can put up a triple-double on any night.

But Sacramento isn’t exactly streaking, having won just four of its last seven. In what has been an up-and-down season, the Kings have a point differential of just +1.4 on the year, and have yet to find sustained success against quality opponents, recently losing two in a row at home to the Dallas Mavericks.

In the first meeting between these teams, the Knicks won by seven on the road. At home, I expect a similar result for a New York team that will be even more comfortable in its own building. I’m taking the Knicks to cover the modest spread tonight.

Kings vs Knicks same-game parlay

Knicks -3

Over 214

Jalen Brunson 25+ points

I love the Knicks in tonight’s game, so I’m also taking them to cover the spread as the first leg of a same-game parlay. I’m adding a bet on the Over as well, as the total for tonight’s game is just too low. The Knicks may play at a very slow pace, but the Kings don’t, and even for the Knicks, 214 is a number they’ve hit in four of their last five games.

Finally, let’s take Brunson to reach at least 25 points tonight. Brunson has hit that number in eight of his last 10 games and is coming off a disappointing performance against the Miami Heat. I don’t expect him to come up short two games in a row, especially now that the Knicks are back at home.

Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
