Jazz vs Pacers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The total has dropped a few points since opening because several key Pacers are sitting. This only hurts their defense, and while the Jazz have been putrid on the road, this opens avenues for Utah to up its scoring.

The Utah Jazz will hope to end a six-game losing streak as they visit the Indiana Pacers tonight.

Utah plays fast, and neither side here is great on defense, which is why I’m taking the Over in my Jazz vs. Pacers predictions below.

Read on to see how bettors should approach tonight’s game with my free NBA picks for Tuesday, February 3.

Jazz vs Pacers prediction

Jazz vs Pacers best bet: Over 232.5 (-110)

The Utah Jazz are coming off two straight low-scoring games, but those are outliers in a season where they haven't stopped anyone from scoring. The Jazz are allowing opponents to score 127 points per game, the highest total in the NBA by an average of nearly five points.

That’s not just because Utah can’t play defense. Make no mistake, they can’t: the Jazz are dead last in defensive rating, giving up 120.4 points per 100 possessions. But they pair that with one of the fastest paces in the NBA, a disastrous combination that helps explain why this team is 15-35 on the year despite having a reasonably capable offense that puts up 118 PPG.

The Indiana Pacers' raw defensive numbers aren’t quite as bad, but that’s largely because they don’t play at the same breakneck pace.

The Pacers rank 21st in defensive rating (114) and have allowed 110+ points in each of their last 10 games. They’ve hit the Over in four of their last five games, and even with several players sitting out tonight, that trend should continue — Indiana’s defense will suffer without Bennedict Mathurin, Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam, and others out of the lineup.

The first meeting between these teams this season ended in a 152-128 win for the Jazz — a total of 280 points, far Over even the most extreme NBA totals. I’m expecting more of the same tonight, which is why I’m backing the Over.

Jazz vs Pacers same-game parlay

I’m pairing the Over with a bet on the Jazz to cover after the Pacers have ruled out several of their top players, which I think will be too much to overcome. I’ll also take Utah forward Brice Sensabaugh to hit his scoring Over after he’s hit the 16+ point mark in six of his last nine games.

Our "from downtown" SGP: The Markksman Strikes

Lauri Markkanen throws up plenty of shots from deep and has hit three or more treys in four of his last seven games. That has me interested in backing him at plus money to continue that trend in what should be a high-scoring game.

Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
