Against the spread (ATS) pick
The Hornets are coming off a gigantic win over the Suns. Charlotte was a 9-point underdog in that game, but was able to pull it out, with LaMelo Ball looking like the best player on the floor. Ball had 20 points and eight assists for the Hornets, and he seemingly came up with a big play whenever his team needed him most.
The issue for Charlotte here is that Golden State isn’t going to get caught sleeping. While the Suns are a better team than the Warriors, Steve Kerr’s team is in a tight race for a playoff spot in the West. That means that GSW really values its home games, and it’s hard to imagine the group losing focus.
Also, while Ball might have looked like the best player on the court last game, it’s unlikely he’s able to even temporarily steal that distinction away from Stephen Curry, who is averaging 30.0 points and 6.3 assists per game on the season. Curry is going to love facing this Hornets team, as Charlotte runs at a fast pace and doesn’t play a lot of defense. That means Curry should be able to put up some big numbers here.
Draymond Green should also be a huge X-factor in this game. Green is still a tremendous defender in pick-and-roll situations, and he should be able to make life difficult for Ball on switches.
PREDICTION: Warriors -6.0 (-110)
Over/Under pick
While we might associate a Curry-led team with firepower, the Warriors have gone Under in three games in a row, and 10 of their last 15. Golden State is now in the Top 5 in defensive rating this season, which is actually quite impressive, as a lot of people worried about how Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. would look as a wing-defending duo.
Well, the two have passed the test with flying colors, and now this Warriors group will look to contain a good Hornets offense. They won’t be able to completely lock them down, but they should be able to make things difficult enough.
PREDICTION: Under 233.5 (-110)
Player prop pick
Terry Rozier is coming off a two-game stretch in which he was just 1 for 9 from the outside, which means he’s definitely due for a good shooting performance soon. Before those two games, Rozier had made six or more threes in three of his previous four games, and he has the ultimate green light this season.
That’s one of the perks you earn when you’re shooting 44.5 percent from three on the year. Now, Rozier faces a Warriors team that does occasionally let shooters get free. This total is a bit high but he’s going to be launching, and the odds are definitely enticing.
PREDICTION: Terry Rozier Over 3.5 Threes (+128)
