The Toronto Blue Jays will look to continue their late-season push and claim their fourth straight series win when they welcome the New York Yankees to Rogers Centre for the start of a three-game set.

Kevin Gausman and Michael King will go head to head for the second time in seven days, with Gausman taking the victory in their last duel.

Can Gausman guide Toronto to another crucial win? Find out in our Yankees vs. Blue Jays MLB picks for Tuesday, September 26.

Yankees vs Blue Jays odds

Yankees vs Blue Jays predictions

The Toronto Blue Jays took two of three games off the New York Yankees last week, outscoring them 16-7 while gaining ground in a tight AL Wild Card race.

With seven wins in their last nine outings, the Jays now sit 1.5 games ahead of the Astros and Mariners for the second Wild Card position while the Yankees were officially eliminated from the postseason this past week.

However, New York still has a chance to play spoiler and Michael King gives them a good chance to do just that. The right-hander moved from the bullpen to the rotation in late August and has been excellent since making the switch, holding opponents to one earned run or fewer in all six of his starts over that span.

King had arguably his best game of the year last time out against the Blue Jays, scattering five hits and one run over a season-high seven innings while picking up 13 Ks. Kevin Gausman was also excellent in that game for the Jays, throwing six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts.

The pitchers could have their hands full tonight, though, as both offenses have been chugging along. Toronto is averaging 6.17 runs over its last six games while New York is scoring 4.75 runs per game over its last four contests.

The trends also suggest that we could see another high-scoring contest as the Jays have cashed the Over in four straight outings while the Over is 3-1 in the Yankees’ last four games.

With the total set at just 7 runs, I’m going with the Over as my best bet tonight.

My best bet: Over 7 (-118 at SIA)

Yankees vs Blue Jays same-game parlay

Over 7.5 (+110)

Michael King to record 7+ strikeouts (+160)

George Springer to record 2+ total bases (+135)

On top of taking the Over on 7.5 runs, we’ll round out tonight’s same-game parlay by focusing on the Yankees starter and a hot bat for the Blue Jays.

King has transitioned seamlessly from the pen to the rotation, seemingly getting more comfortable with each start. The right-hander has been a strikeout monster all year with 121 Ks in 94 2/3 innings and that’s been even more apparent as he pitches deeper into ballgames.

King has racked up at least eight punchouts in each of his last three outings with 30 Ks total over that span — look for him to record at least seven more tonight.

Finally, we’ll look for George Springer to keep swinging a hot bat for the Blue Jays with another multi-base outing. Springer is coming off a strong series against the Rays where he racked up eight bases and six RBI in three contests and he now has multiple bases in five of his last six games.

Yankees vs Blue Jays moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Blue Jays come into tonight’s contest as the home favorite, opening at -152 on the moneyline. With the hosts so close to clinching a Wild Card spot and the visitors already out of contention, I think the Jays will be the hungrier team in this matchup.

The main reason why the Yankees will miss the postseason for the first time since 2016 is their lack of offense. New York’s bats have really fallen flat since the All-Star break, scoring just 253 runs in 65 games — the fourth-worst mark in the MLB over that span.

They’ve picked it up over the last few games but the Yankees have been cold for most of September, with their 88 runs this month ranking 26th in the majors.

Tonight’s total was set at just 7 runs and while the starters were excellent in their duel last week, the clubs still pushed the total as Toronto exploded for five runs over the final two innings of that game.

The Jays have scored at least six runs in five of their last six contests with four players racking up at least four RBI over that span, led by Springer (7 RBI) and Bo Bichette (6 RBI).

Toronto’s bats seem to be trending up at the perfect time and I think we’ll see the hosts put up another solid offensive showing tonight en route to cashing the Over.

Starting pitchers

Michael King (4-7, 2.66 ERA): King has been super consistent since joining the rotation in late August, allowing just five earned runs over his six starts. King threw a season-high 101 pitches against the Jays last time out but hadn’t pitched beyond the fifth inning in any of his prior appearances.

Kevin Gausman (12-9, 3.29 ERA): Gausman was great in his last start against New York but he isn’t out of the woods just yet. The right-hander has generally struggled over the last few weeks, giving up at least three earned runs in four of his last seven outings.
