The Cincinnati Reds hit the road for a three-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies are home favorites on the MLB odds board after getting their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Reds enter Philadelphia after taking two out of three against the Nationals at home.

Can the Phillies make it two in a row? Read on for our Reds vs. Phillies MLB picks and predictions on Monday, April 1.

Reds vs Phillies predictions

The Philadelphia Phillies salvaged a win on Sunday afternoon after getting blown out 9-3 and 12-4 to open the season against the Braves.

It will be a battle of southpaws on Monday evening with Andrew Abbott taking on Cristopher Sanchez. The Phillies have already seen two left-handed pitchers to the tune of mixed results.

The Phillies bats have been a bit cold to start the season but one player that has hit well is third baseman Alec Bohm. He went 2-for-4 on Sunday afternoon with two crucial RBI in the Phillies’ come-from-behind victory over the Braves.

He's seeing the ball well and that should continue against a left-handed starter. Last season, Bohm hit .303 (47-for-155) with a .929 OPS against left-handed pitching as opposed to just .263 with a .702 OPS against righties. Those numbers are in line with Bohm’s career splits as well: .262 vs. RHP and .313 vs. LHP.

The former third-overall pick should be batting in the heart of the Phillies’ order given the depth of Philadelphia’s lineup. He’ll have plenty of opportunities to not only get on base but drive runners in as well.

Bohm logged two hits and a run in the opener and added two hits and two RBI on Sunday. I expect him to do some more damage against Abbott and a subpar Reds bullpen.

My best bet: Alec Bohm Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-120 at DraftKings)

Reds vs Phillies same-game parlay

Alec Bohm 2+ total bases

Alec Bohm 1+ RBI

Phillies team total Over 4.5

Bohm has two hits in two of three games thus far and has a career slugging percentage of .525 against left-handed pitching (.594 last season).

And provided guys in front of him can get on bases, I love his chances of driving someone home. He hit .344 with runners in scoring position last season, picking up 71 RBI in 151 at-bats.

Finally, the Phillies offense goes from facing an Atlanta bullpen with some weapons and a 3.00 ERA to a Reds bullpen with a 7.15 ERA. These are both small sample sizes, but five runs isn’t too steep of a hill to climb for the Phillies.

Starting pitchers

Andrew Abbott (0-0, 0.00 ERA): The 24-year-old lefthander fared well in his first major league season last year. Abbott went 8-6 with a 3.87 ERA across 109 1/3 innings. He had 120 strikeouts and issued 44 walks in his 21 starts.

Cristopher Sanchez (0-0, 0.00 ERA): Sanchez has worked both as a starter and a reliever during his time in the majors. Last year, he went 3-5 with a 3.44 ERA across 99 1/3 innings in 19 appearances (18 starts). The Phillies are hoping the 27-year-old southpaw can build on that this season.
