The Boston Red Sox head to the Big Apple to face the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card series on Tuesday.

This should be a pitcher's duel, and I'm betting on Boston ace Garrett Crochet to get the job done, thanks to some hitting help from red-hot infielder Romy Gonzalez.

See how that factors into my Red Sox vs. Yankees same game parlay for September 30, and be sure to check out my full Red Sox vs. Yankees predictions before opening pitch!

Our best Red Sox vs Yankees SGP for Game 1

Both starters have been great, but Boston Red Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet has been slightly better. He sports a 2.59 ERA with an expected ERA of 2.93, while New York Yankees lefty Max Fried has a 2.86 ERA with an xERA of 3.39.

Crochet also excelled against the Yankees, going 3-0 with a 3.29 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP in four starts. Fried has had mixed results in the postseason, logging a 5.10 ERA across 67 innings and getting shelled when he pitched in the NL Wild Card last year.

In addition, Boston's bullpen was second in the majors in ERA (3.41) and WAR (6.9) while Yankees relievers were 23rd in ERA (4.37) and 21st in WAR (2.8).

I'll lean towards the team with the slightly more reliable pitching at plus money here, especially since the Red Sox won nine of 13 games against the Yankees during the regular season.

I'm backing Boston on the moneyline since I expect Crochet to have a strong game and limit the Yankees' high-scoring offense. That's why it makes sense to add the Under 2.5 earned runs for Crochet to this SGP.

Crochet will need run support, and Romy Gonzalez looks like a guy who can provide that. Gonzalez comes into the postseason red-hot, batting .365 over the last month. The infielder has been raking with the platoon advantage all year, slashing .331/.378/.600 against southpaws.
