My analysis
There is one area in which Walker has been fairly consistent, though, and that’s strikeouts. Walker has racked up 36 Ks in 43 1/3 innings across eight starts this season. That’s not a ton, but his strikeout line is also set at a low 3.5 for this afternoon’s game.
The Baltimore Orioles strike out 8.16 times per game, which is in the better half of the league. However, they were punched out 11 times on Friday night and the low line of 3.5 does give us some wiggle room here.
Walker has gone Over 3.5 strikeouts in seven of his eight starts this season. The one Under 3.5 performance came on May 16 against the Mets, his former team, in which he left the start early due to injury. Outside of that, Walker has punched out four or more in three starts, five in two, and one start each of six and seven Ks.
Last season, Walker went Over 3.5 strikeouts in 20 of his 31 starts, including at least five strikeouts in 15 — and six plus in 10. This could be a ladder opportunity if that’s up your alley.
