The Atlanta Braves will look to continue making up ground in the NL East as they host the New York Mets for the final game of their series on Thursday night.

New York is suffering through a five-game losing streak, but my Mets vs. Braves predictions and MLB picks will be taking the Amazins to finally get a win on June 19.

My Mets vs Braves best bet: Mets moneyline (+118 at Caesars)

The New York Mets have lost five straight and have been shut out twice in that stretch. They also haven’t allowed fewer than five runs in any of those games. Overall, the Mets have been outscored 34-13 during the losing streak.

But looking at short-term results can be extremely misleading, and the Mets are still one of the best teams in the majors.

They remain 16 games above .500 with a +74 run differential, are only a half-game behind the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in the National League, and are among the favorites in the World Series odds this year.

One of the biggest reasons for optimism for New York going forward is its surprisingly strong starting rotation. Even with Kodai Senga on the injured list, the Mets have more depth than expected on their staff. That includes tonight’s starter, Clay Holmes.

The Mets gambled a bit on converting Holmes back to a starter, a role he hadn’t performed in since his rookie season in 2018. So far, that attempt is paying off, as Holmes has pitched to a 2.87 ERA in his first 14 starts.

The Atlanta Braves will counter with Spencer Strider, who has been inconsistent since returning from a right hamstring strain. He started by losing his first four outings in his return, posting a 5.85 ERA in those games before finally getting a win on Saturday in a strong outing against the hapless Colorado Rockies.

Still, those recent struggles make Strider a bit of a question mark for now, while Holmes has been rolling. And the Mets are simply the better team overall in this matchup, regardless of how they’ve played over the past week.

New York isn’t missing any key players — they’ll live without Brett Baty if his groin tightness hasn’t improved — and they aren’t digging deep into their rotational depth tonight.

My baseline expectation was for New York to be a slight favorite tonight. Instead, we can get the Mets as an underdog, which is more than enough to take them on the moneyline in this matchup.

Mets vs Braves same-game parlay (SGP)

Mets moneyline

Francisco Lindor 1+ runs scored

Juan Soto 1+ runs scored

If the Mets are going to snap out of their losing streak tonight, it’s going to take a solid performance from their biggest stars.

While Juan Soto has only scored two runs during New York’s current five-game losing streak, he scored at least one run in each of the Mets’ previous seven wins.

Meanwhile, Francisco Lindor has gone three games without scoring a run, but has 47 runs overall and scored in four straight games before his recent drought.

I’m taking both men to get on the board tonight to lead the Mets to victory and complete our SGP.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
