San Francisco's surging offense gives them an advantage against a vulnerable Rangers bullpen and a starter returning from injury today.

The Texas Rangers sit as a heavy -170 home favorite this afternoon at Globe Life Field against the San Francisco Giants, with first pitch scheduled for 2:35 p.m. ET.

However, my Giants vs. Rangers predictions eye a San Francisco win as the Texas bullpen and offense continue to struggle.

Who will win Giants vs Rangers today: Giants moneyline (+152)

The San Francisco Giants aren't exactly throwing their ace today, as Carson Whisenhunt owns a poor 7.54 FIP over his last two outings.

Yes, those numbers aren't pretty, but he's coming up against a Texas Rangers offense with a 67 wRC+ and .114 ISO in the last week. The Giants bullpen can also come in early and contain this game. The relievers own a 3.73 FIP across their last 23 2/3 frames.

On the other side, the Rangers send Cody Bradford to the mound, who will be making his season debut. I expect the leash to be short as he's coming back from elbow surgery, which means the Texas bullpen will be called upon early as well.

That's not good news. It has a horrible 6.55 FIP over the last week while allowing 5.92 BB/9 and 1.85 HR/9. Lots of walks and plenty of home runs is hardly a recipe for success. San Francisco, meanwhile, has a 104 wRC+ in its last seven contests.

I'll ride the San Francisco trolley. Play this pick down to +110.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Giants bullpen has allowed just 0.38 HR/9 over the last week, giving San Francisco a stronger safety net if Whisenhunt exits early.

Giants vs Rangers Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 runs (+101)

The Over has a decent path because neither starter brings much certainty. Whisenhunt has struggled to keep the ball in the yard lately, allowing 2.57 HR/9 over his last three starts, while Bradford is making his season debut and likely won’t be asked to work deep.

That creates a game where both managers may need to bring in many different arms. San Francisco has the better offensive form right now, and Texas still carries enough home-field upside to chip in despite its recent cold stretch.

The Giants bullpen is the cleaner late-game unit, but the Rangers’ relief situation is more volatile. If San Francisco gets into that group early enough, this contest can still reach nine runs.

I'll play this pick down to +100.

Giants vs Rangers weather

Weather at Globe Life Field looks hot and dry this afternoon, with clear skies and temperatures pushing into the upper 90s. Winds sit around 8–10 mph, and rain is not a concern. If the roof is open, the heat could help carry, but conditions are neutral if closed. It's currently expected to be closed.
