The San Francisco Giants have split the first two games against the Philadelphia Phillies after a loss on Tuesday.

While the Giants came up short in the 6-4 defeat, the continued emergence of Willy Adames is a positive. The shortstop was off to an inconsistent start to 2025 but has found his form in recent outings.

I look to Adames’ bat to stay hot with my best Giants vs. Phillies predictions and MLB picks on Wednesday, April 16.

Giants vs Phillies prediction

My Giants vs Phillies best bet: Willy Adames Over 1.5 total bases (+145 at bet365)

Willy Adames has topped his total bases prop in three of his last four outings, with those totals ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 and juiced accordingly. Tonight’s total bases bar is back to 1.5 O/U, with the Over paying +145.

Adames’ lack of pop to start the season was a concern for the San Francisco Giants, especially after posting 107 home runs over the previous four seasons in Milwaukee. He did go yard in Game 1 of this series against the Philadelphia Phillies and can make solid contact to all fields, which works out well with a short porch in left and stronger winds (18 mph/gusts up to 30 mph) blowing out to right at Citizens Bank Park.

He’s recorded at least one hit in three of his last four games and will get a few whacks at starter Aaron Nola, who’s had trouble keeping the ball in the park.

Nola has worked just over 16 innings and allowed 18 total hits, with three of those hits being doubles and four of the home run variety. The Phillies’ right-hander allowed 30 home runs in 2024 (fifth most) and served up 32 dingers in 2023 (seventh most).

Adames is much more comfortable against righties, boasting a .245 average with 18 total bases in 49 at-bats against RHP this season. That said, he’s a collective 0-for-16 versus Nola for his career with nine strikeouts. Beyond Nola, San Francisco faces a Philly bullpen with a 4.50 ERA (ninth highest).

Adames' prop odds like the former Brewer to at least record a hit (Over 0.5 at -210) and his runs scored prop is at Over 0.5 +110, setting up a game script in which he keeps making contact. He’s currently hitting second in the batting order, so he’ll get his share of plate appearances.

Player projections for Adames call for 1.6 total bases, and this market is priced as short as Over 1.5 +125 at some books. You can max out the value by shopping for +145 at bet365.

Giants vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)

Willy Adames 2+ total bases

Aaron Nola no recorded win

Jung Hoo Lee 1+ hits

Adames is getting his groove back after a quiet start and has power at the plate to top this prop with one swing.

Nola has yet to record a win in three starts thanks to poor run support, with Philadelphia scoring a total of just three runs in those outings.

Jung Hoo Lee has recorded at least one hit in 13 of his last 15 games, including two hits in last night’s loss to the Phillies.
