Blake Snell has been overpowering since his return, and he draws a Detroit lineup that has been lost against lefties all year.

Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell has looked like a Cy Young winner again since returning from injury, and he headlines the middle game of the series as the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Detroit Tigers this afternoon.

Los Angeles is a heavy favorite at a 63% implied probability on the moneyline, with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m. ET at Comerica Park.

Snell’s matchup edge shapes my Dodgers vs. Tigers predictions, which back the Los Angeles run line, lean Under the total, and target a Dodgers slugger to go deep.

Who will win Dodgers vs Tigers today: Dodgers -1.5 (50%)

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

Blake Snell gets an excellent matchup with a depleted Detroit Tigers lineup, and I prefer backing the Los Angeles Dodgers to win by multiple runs rather than paying the premium on its moneyline.

Detroit has been dreadful against left-handers, carrying a .681 OPS and a 16-25 record in games started by opposing lefties.

The Tigers’ current form makes the spot even better. They remain without Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, and Matt Vierling, and Friday’s 2-1 loss was their eighth defeat in nine games.

Keider Montero’s 3.30 ERA gives Detroit a chance to keep it close early, but his low strikeout rate puts plenty of balls in play against one of baseball’s most dangerous lineups.

The Dodgers also stranded 15 runners on Friday, a sign of far more offense to come. I’d play the Dodgers run line to about 52%.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Blake Snell has been overpowering since returning from the injured list, allowing just two earned runs across 18 innings while striking out 21 and surrendering zero home runs.

Dodgers vs Tigers Over/Under pick: Under 7.5 (55%)

Detroit’s matchup with Snell is the foundation of the Under.

Snell has posted a 1.00 ERA across his first three starts back, with 21 strikeouts against seven walks, and he now faces a Tigers lineup with a sub-700 OPS against lefties that has scored inconsistently throughout its skid.

Montero holds up his end, too, with a 3.30 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and a .604 opponent OPS this season. He isn’t a big strikeout arm, but he’s suppressed damage well and has thrown scoreless outings in two of his last four starts.

Friday’s opener finished 2-1, and Detroit has trended toward low-scoring games at Comerica Park all season. I’d play the Under to about 54%.

Dodgers vs Tigers home run prediction: Max Muncy (17%)

Max Muncy and his 19% price offer more value than paying up for Shohei Ohtani.

Muncy has hit 20 home runs in 360 plate appearances against right-handed pitching this season with a .503 slugging mark, nearly all of it coming with the platoon advantage he’ll hold against Montero.

Montero’s splits make the target even clearer. He has surrendered nine home runs to left-handed hitters against just five to righties, and his knuckle curve has been tagged for a .537 slugging mark and four homers. Muncy’s ability to elevate mistakes gives him a direct route to a big swing.

At 19%, I prefer Muncy’s blend of matchup and price to the shorter Ohtani market, and I’d play this to about 20% for a quarter unit.
