Hawai'i heads to Palo Alto for a Week 0 opener against the Stanford Cardinal (-3.5) on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The Rainbow Warriors have a new-look receiving unit, while the Cardinal will hope to control tempo and the clock.
It may be a low-scoring contest, but my Hawaii vs. Stanford prediction and college football picks are eyeing the Under.

Hawaii vs Stanford prediction: Under 48.5 (52%)
The Run-and-Shoot is heavily reliant upon playmakers at wide receiver. Jackson Harris racked up 963 yards and 12 TDs in this system, earning an upgrade to LSU, and Pofele Ashlock had 76 receptions for 827 yards and 8 TDs, but is doubtful for the opener.
Without its top five pass-catchers from a season ago, Hawai'i doesn't have clear answers in making the Run-and-Shoot go. It's difficult to see a high-scoring start to the season if Ashlock is indeed out against a Stanford defense ranking 23rd in returning production.
On the flip side, Stanford's slow, run-heavy offensive approach will keep the clock ticking. Possessions will be at a premium, and neither offense is forecast to be overly efficient.
COVERS INTEL: Hawai'i's top five wideouts combined for 233 receptions for 2,767 yards and 24 touchdowns. That's an awful lot for any team to replace, let alone a team that relies on the passing game and ranked third in pass rate.
Hawaii vs Stanford same-game parlay (SGP)
In addition to my best bet, Hawai'i is breaking in a totally new crop of wideouts, and Stanford has a rash of injuries along the offensive line (as many as three of the five projected starters might be out).
That likely means a sluggish, low-scoring start to this contest.
