Dodgers vs Rockies Prediction, Picks & Odds — Tuesday, August 19

The best bet isn't always the prettiest one. And in this case, taking the Under on a sky-high total in Coors Field is indeed the best bet.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back in the win column when they face the Colorado Rockies tonight.

Colorado pulled off a startling 4-3 upset in the series opener, but will be hard-pressed for an encore.

See why my Dodgers vs. Rockies predictions and MLB picks for August 19 are keen on the Under.

Dodgers vs Rockies prediction

Dodgers vs Rockies best bet: Under 12 (-110)

Playing an Under at Coord Field — what on Earth is the matter?

Well, when the total is priced up at 12, it’s hard to look any other way. The Colorado Rockies have cashed the Under in four of their last five home games.

On the flip side, the Los Angeles Dodgers have played to the Under on the road by going 25-34-1 O/U.

It’s natural to look at this game and expect offense, given it’s taking place at hitter-friendly Coors Field park with Austin Gomber (6.75 ERA) throwing for the home team. The books are thinking the same thing, however, and they know bettors will still fancy Overs.

Gomber’s 5.66 xERA and 5.57 xFIP indicate he’s been somewhat unlucky, and the Rockies have cashed six Unders in his last nine starts. The Dodgers haven’t always played up to expectations when facing a left-handed starting pitcher, going 17-18 on the year.

Emmet Sheehan gets the start for L.A. and has impressed with a 3.61 xERA and 3.23 FIP. The underlying metrics are strong, and Colorado isn’t a fearsome lineup.

Plug your nose and take the Under.

Dodgers vs Rockies same-game parlay (SGP)

The good thing about playing an Under with a total this high is you can come back with Overs on hitters’ player props in an SGP and still have plenty of room to spare.

Teoscar Hernandez molly-whops left-handed pitching (156 wRC+) and stands a good chance of driving in a run if L.A. nears its team total of 7.5.

The Dodgers have the better starting pitcher, better lineup, and better bullpen, and it’s a good bounce-back spot after last night’s humiliating defeat.
