We’re back with yet another edition of our Sunday Night Baseball player prop picks, where we preview three of our favorite prop bets for the final baseball game of the week.

Tonight, we’ll be looking at the meeting between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, which we already analyzed from a more traditional betting perspective.

There are other ways to make money outside of moneylines, spreads, and totals, and we like our chances of cashing in on a few of these fun ones.

Editor's note: Our best MLB player prop picks were chosen before the announcement that Marcus Stroman will not be starting tonight.

Today’s best Dodgers vs Cubs prop bets

Strikeouts for Stroman

In his last trip to the mound, Marcus Stroman went out and out-dueled Milwaukee Brewers ace, Corbin Burnes. The 31-year-old threw seven innings of shutout ball and struck out five batters in what turned into a surprising win for the Cubs.

It’ll be hard for Stroman to replicate that performance against an elite Dodgers lineup, but it won’t be impossible. Last year, the righty gave up just two earned runs over six innings in his only start against Los Angeles, and he struck out six in that outing.

With this one being at pitcher-friendly Wrigley Field, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if Stroman performed at a high level once again.

All in all, we like Stroman to reach the five-strikeout mark in this game. He cleared that number rather easily when he faced this lineup a year ago, and there are sites that are only offering this prop with -105 odds. With that said, the value is pretty good if you can get this at plus money.

Even Drew Smyly, who has just a 17.4% strikeout rate this season, had four strikeouts against this Los Angeles lineup yesterday. Stroman’s is up at 20.4%, and even that would be his lowest mark of the last three seasons, so that number is bound to tick up.

Pick: Marcus Stroman Over 4.5 strikeouts (+115)

Best Betts

One of the more enticing plays on the board in this game is backing Mookie Betts to score a run. While there’s a pretty good chance that this one will end up being a somewhat low-scoring affair, Betts is the leadoff hitter for the team that is favored to win. That means he should get the most plate appearances in this game, giving you extra opportunities to help cash this.

Betts has actually scored at least one run in six of his last eight games entering tonight, and a lot of that has to do with the way he’s hitting right now. Since April 26, Betts has seen his batting average rise all the way from .190 to .255. He has completely turned his season around and is seeing the baseball really well right now.

Betts also happens to be coming off a game in which he was 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, and five RBI. Considering how hot he is, it’s hard not to see him crossing home plate in this one — even if he ends up homering himself.

Pick: Mookie Betts Over 0.5 runs scored (-127)

Let's Seiya base hit

While Walker Buehler will be one of the best pitchers that Seiya Suzuki has seen since coming to MLB, it’s hard not to think that the Japanese star has a good chance of coming through with a hit in this game.

Suzuki has gotten a hit in each of the last two games and this is a match-up that he might not mind as much as others. On the year, the outfielder is hitting .291 with 16 hits in 55 at-bats against right-handed pitching. Despite being a righty at the plate, Suzuki has the best batting average against righties on this entire Cubs roster in 2022.

Also, for as good as Buehler has been in his career, the ace does occasionally put a decent amount of baserunners on before working his way out of jams.

Bet on Suzuki to be one of the guys that puts him in trouble tonight, cashing this for the fourth time in six games.

Pick: Seiya Suzuki Over 0.5 hits (-179)
