The Milwaukee Brewers host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third and final matchup of this National League series at American Family Field. MLB odds list Los Angeles as a -156 favorite, while the total sits at 8.5.

My Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction targets the total in this NL matchup.

Read on for my MLB picks for Wednesday, July 9.

Dodgers vs Brewers prediction

My Dodgers vs Brewers best bet: Over 8.5 (-112 at DraftKings)

The Los Angeles Dodgers possess arguably the best lineup in baseball. This season, they rank in the Top 2 in runs scored per game, hits per game, slugging percentage, and OPS.

The Dodgers can beat you with contact, power or a combination of both. No matter the method, they should be able to get things going against left-hander Jose Quintana, who takes the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Quintana is a strong sell-high candidate, as his 3.44 ERA is not indicative of his underlying performance this year. The southpaw owns a 4.18 expected ERA (xERA) and ranks in the bottom third of the league in expected batting average (xBA), strikeout rate, and walk rate.

This expected regression could come to fruition against the Dodgers, a team Quintana is 0-2 against over their past two meetings with a 7.71 ERA and 1.82 WHIP. The good news for the veteran is that he should also receive a solid amount of run support.

The Brewers do a good job manufacturing runs, too, as they rank in the top half of the league in runs per game, hits per game, on-base percentage, and stolen bases.

Dodgers vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 8.5

Shohei Ohtani 1+ home run

Mookie Betts 1+ hits

There is a strong correlation between Los Angeles generating offense and the over hitting.

Shohei Ohtani homered in last night’s game and is 1-for-3 against Quintana with a home run.

Meanwhile, Mookie Betts has recorded seven hits over his past six games and owns a .300 batting average through 32 plate appearances against Quintana.
