Yes, Tyler Glasnow is a better pitcher than Bryce Elder. However, getting the Braves at +144 at home against a starter making his first appearance in nearly four months is too good a line to ignore.

Tyler Glasnow returns from the injured list as the Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game series at Truist Park as -150 favorites against the Atlanta Braves.

The long layoff and presumably short leash won't do Glasnow any favors, and I'm grabbing value on the underdog with my Dodgers vs. Braves predictions.

However, that doesn't mean our MLB picks expect Bryce Elder to go unscathed on Tuesday, Aug. 25, either.

Who will win Dodgers vs Braves today: Braves moneyline (+143)

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow last pitched in a major-league game on May 6, and while his results this season have been largely sparkling, the back-injury layoff is a concern.

Glasnow had a fairly long leash to start the season, going six innings or more in each of his first five starts, but, as has become his custom, he landed on the IL shortly thereafter and missed nearly four months of action.

This isn't a huge issue for the Dodgers, who only need him to be at his best for the postseason, but you can expect them to take it easy with him in his first start back, especially against this Atlanta Braves offense.

While the Braves have scuffled of late, Matt Olson remains fearsome, and he is second in MLB with nine home runs over the last 30 days

This is a value play. While Dave Roberts may say Glasnow will have no restrictions, we're getting the team with the third-best record in the NL at significant plus money to win outright at home.

Take Atlanta on the moneyline to +130.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Glasnow averaged just under 3.5 innings through four rehab starts, which should give some pause when thinking the shackles will be completely off tonight.

Dodgers vs Braves Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 (+100)

Braves right-hander Bryce Elder has outperformed his peripherals all year, and the facade occasionally gets pulled back to reveal a homer-prone arm.

Pitching against the Dodgers won't make things any easier. While he has navigated Truist Park (3.42 ERA) better than away venues (4.93 ERA), we can't expect a clean sheet.

I'm also leaning toward the Over because we're getting some favorable hitting conditions, with 10-mph winds blowing out, according to BallparkPal.

Before his injury, Glasnow had generated his lowest ground-ball rate since 2021. If that trend continues, some of those extra fly balls could sail over the fences, boosting our total in the process.

Play the Over to -115.

Dodgers vs Braves home run prediction: Mookie Betts (+510)

Elder's 1.44 HR/9 is the eighth-highest among qualified starters. And while you may be inclined to target the handedness matchup, he's actually fared better against left-handed bats than righties.

Lefty bats are slashing .203/.279/.371 with 13 home runs in 361 plate appearances, while right-handers are slashing .286/.332/.448 with nine home runs in just 218 PAs.

Most of the Dodgers' most devastating sluggers bat from the left side, so I'm jumping on Mookie Betts.

Despite many of his numbers falling off a cliff, Betts maintains an elite approach, ranking in the 95th percentile or better in chase, whiff, and strikeout rates. He also doesn't walk, so it's unlikely that he works Elder into delivering a free pass.

Instead, I like Betts to be aggressive and take advantage of a mistake over the heart of the zone and use the out-blowing wind to clear the wall.
