The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals play the rubber match of a three-game set at Busch Stadium on Sunday Night Baseball.
St. Louis has struggling veteran Sonny Gray set to start, and my Cubs vs. Cardinals predictions and MLB picks are calling for the Cubbies to have the last laugh in this NL Central showdown on August 10.

Cubs vs Cardinals best bet analysis
The Chicago Cubs woke up at the dish during Saturday’s 9-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Cubbies are positioned to keep the good times rolling with Cards reeling righty Sonny Gray toeing the rubber Sunday.
Gray sports a 6.49 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across his past seven starts, and while his underlying numbers suggest smoother times ahead, I’m not convinced the Chicago lineup kick-starts the statistical correction.
The Cubs rank fifth in wOBA and third in ISO against right-handed pitchers this season, and they’ve also been unlucky at the dish with the seventh-lowest BABIP despite the fourth-highest barrel percentage since the calendar flipped to July.
Chicago has crafty lefty Shota Imanaga starting, too, and he’s settled in since returning from a hamstring injury with a 3.43 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. Of course, the bulk of the damage came in a single outing, when Imanaga allowed seven earned across just three frames to the White Sox on July 25.
St. Louis sends a run-of-the-mill lineup to the plate against southpaws with ranks of 15th in wOBA and 27th in ISO, so I’m anticipating Imanaga keeping the Cards in check tonight.
Cubs vs Cardinals same-game parlay analysis
Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker snapped out of a mini-funk Saturday with a 2-for-4 night with two runs and an RBI, and he sports a solid .375 wOBA, .209 ISO, and .878 OPS against righties for the season.
I’m expecting Tucker to heat up over the coming weeks, too. A lingering finger injury is no longer bothering him, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports, and Tucker’s .253 BABIP over the past 30 games is well below his career .285 mark.
Turning to the final leg of this same-game parlay, Cards slugger Ivan Herrera has been next to automatic against lefties this season with a monster .517 wOBA, .431 ISO, and 1.280 OPS. To put those numbers into context, only New York Yankees star Aaron Judge has a higher ISO and OPS among batters with at least 70 plate appearances against southpaws, and Herrera leads the way in wOBA.
