The Toronto Blue Jays aim to win their second straight against the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon, while Jose Berrios looks to extend a winning streak of his own.
Berrios has picked up six straight victories while allowing just seven total earned runs over that span. Find out why my Cardinals vs. Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks expect the right-hander to keep St. Louis' offense at bay on Saturday, September 14.
Cardinals vs Blue Jays prediction
My best bet
Cardinals team total Under 3.5 (+100 at PROLINE+)
My analysis
Jose Berrios will be the main man to watch as the Toronto Blue Jays starter seeks his seventh straight win. The right-hander has been sensational throughout the winning streak, holding the opposition to two earned runs or fewer in all six of his victories.
Berrios’ last start was another gem as he scattered five hits and one earned run through six innings against the Braves last Saturday, bringing his ERA down to 1.55 during his six-game win streak.
The St. Louis Cardinals have been one of the worst-hitting teams in the majors this season, averaging just 4.11 runs per game (24th), and they’ve been even more feeble over the last 10 days. The Cards are averaging an abysmal 2.63 runs per game over their last eight outings, having been held to less than 3.5 runs in six of those contests.
With St. Louis’ top three run producers — Alec Burleson, Nolan Arenado, and Brendan Donovan — combining for just six RBI through 11 games so far this month, I don’t see the Cardinals producing much offense against Berrios and the Blue Jays this afternoon.
Blue Jays star player prop
My best bet
Spencer Horwitz Over 0.5 RBI (+162 at PROLINE+)
My analysis
Spencer Horwitz has been putting on a hitting clinic for the Jays this month, batting .387 to go along with a team-leading seven RBI and three home runs.
The 26-year-old has been even better over the last seven days as he’s hitting an incredible .600, with all three of his homers and six of his RBI coming in his last six outings. Horwitz went 1-for-3 with one RBI in Toronto’s extra-innings win on Friday night and has driven in at least one run in four of his last six games.

Cardinals vs Blue Jays moneyline and Over/Under analysis
- The Blue Jays opened as the home favorite at –140 despite their inferior record, and that comes down to Berrios giving the hosts a significant edge vs Cardinals starter Kyle Gibson, who put up a 5.77 ERA in August.
- Today’s total sat at either 7.5 or 8 runs at the time of writing, and I’m leaning towards the Under as both clubs rank in the bottom third of the MLB offensively.
- The Under has cashed in four straight for the Cardinals and is 6-1-1 in their last eight. The Under is also 3-1-1 in the Blue Jays’ last five contests.
Cardinals vs Blue Jays trend
