The Texas Rangers look to continue their surge up the standings when they host the struggling Atlanta Braves on Saturday at Globe Life Field.

Kumar Rocker has been outstanding at home this season for the Rangers, while Grant Holmes has had issues on the road and is getting little run support. Those are key reasons why our MLB picks have the Rangers favored to win.

We explain the other reasons why that’s likely to happen in our Braves vs. Rangers predictions for Saturday, July 26.

Braves vs Rangers prediction

My Braves vs Rangers best betRangers moneyline (-115 at bet365)

What little hope existed for fans of the Atlanta Braves — myself included — of salvaging the season following the All Star break has quickly gone down the drain.

It’s become obvious there will be no miracle run like we saw in 2021, as the Braves have now lost five of their last six games and sit 14 games below the .500 mark.

And while the Braves have nothing left to play for but pride, the opposite is true for the Texas Rangers. They come into the game having won four straight, and nine of their last 11.

Not only have they moved back into a winning season, but they’ve chopped the gap to the Houston Astros to just six games and are a half game out of a Wild Card spot.

The Rangers are getting productivity at the plate, with 20 of their 41 hits since the All Star break going to extra bases including eight home runs.

And they’re facing an Atlanta team that has been abysmal on the road, is reeling from the losses in their pitching staff, and has a bullpen that continues to surrender leads.

Grant Holmes hasn’t had a bad season, but he’s below the league average in nearly every advanced metric outside strikeouts and whiff rate. More importantly, he’s getting little run support with the Braves scoring two or fewer runs in four of his last five starts.

Kumar Rocker’s ERA of 5.66 might scare you away from Texas here. But there’s a massive split between his home ERA—1.84 in five starts—compared to what he’s done on the road—9.91 in six starts—that must be taken into consideration.

Opponents are also hitting just .187 against him at Globe Life Field.

With the Rangers being priced at -115, it simply makes no sense to me to not back them. Don’t overthink this one, take the hotter team at home with everything to play for.

Rangers moneyline

Grant Holmes Under 17.5 outs recorded

Matt Olson 2+ hits, runs, & RBI

Grant Holmes is averaging less than 5 ⅓ IP over eight road starts this season, with a 5.19 ERA away from Truist Park.

His last road star saw him give up nine hits and five earned in just three IP, and he hasn’t gotten through a full six IP in his last four road starts.

The Rangers rank sixth in MLB in solid contact rate, and they’ll make it tough for him to reach 18 outs.

Matt Olson has been one of the few reliable Atlanta hitters. While he went 0-for-4 with an RBI last night, he had 2+ hits/runs/RBI in his previous seven contests.

The BatX has Olson projected at 2.3 H/R/R today, and he’s got a .308/.455/.955 split since the All Star break.
