We have a busy betting slate in Major League Baseball today, including an AL East showdown between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox.

Jose Berrios has been as consistent as they come this season, pitching deep into ball games start after start, and my Blue Jays predictions expect another well-pitched game for the Jays SP against a struggling Red Sox offense tonight.

Find out why with my free MLB picks for this June 27 matchup.

Blue Jays predictions for June 27

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Berrios baffles BoSox

Jose Berrios Over 17.5 outs recorded (-110 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays are sending Jose Berrios to the mound in the series opener against the Boston Red Sox.

Berrios is an innings eater. The first prop market I check when he starts a game is his outs total, and typically the magic number to get me excited is anything below 18.

So I was delighted when I saw his posted total for tonight’s game at 17.5 outs, a number Berrios has gone Over in six of his last eight starts.

One of those outings was against this Red Sox team, when he pitched 6 2/3 innings while allowing just two runs and striking out eight. His April start against the BoSox saw him pitch seven innings strong, giving up just four hits and one run.

So, he’s already had two quality starts against this Sox team, and has averaged 20.5 outs in those outings. Let’s go for the trifecta tonight.

It would add to the plethora of quality starts he’s made against this Red Sox squad since becoming a Blue Jay. In 11 starts since being acquired by Toronto in 2021, Berrios is 5-1 with a 2.64 ERA, averaging 19 outs per game.

Moreover, Berrios has had a lot of success against this iteration of the Red Sox lineup, specifically. Boston has just a .640 OPS against him, with Jarren Duran being the player propping that number above .600 with his 1.629 OPS in 21 at-bats, the most of any batter in the lineup. Nobody else has an average above .250 against Berrios.

Additionally, Boston is in an offensive slump right now,  managing just 3.2 runs per game during a current five-game losing streak. They’re batting .212 as a group in that span with 52 strikeouts, the third-most in baseball in that stretch.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Jose Berrios Over 17.5 outs recorded

Jose Berrios to record the win

George Springer Over 0.5 hits

For the first leg of our SGP, we will stick with the best bet and take Over 17.5 outs for Berrios

Next up for my same-game parlay, we'll continue to bet on Berrios and take him to record the win. He’s recorded the win in four of his last five starts against the Red Sox.

Moreover, Toronto’s offense is far more potent than Boston’s, especially against Brayan Bello, who is 3-4 with a 5.48 ERA while allowing a .772 OPS and a .378 BABIP against the Jays throughout his career.

Lastly, I’m going to take George Springer to go Over 0.5 hits. He’s currently riding a five-game hitting streak, with nine total hits in that stretch.

Additionally, his batted ball profile matches up well against Bello, a ground-ball pitcher that relies on his opponents topping the baseball. Springer has the highest barrel rate and lowest topping rate on the Blue Jays this season.

That explains his .320 average against Bello through 25 career at-bats.
