The Detroit Tigers will look to pick up their third straight win and increase their lead atop the AL Central when they take on the Minnesota Twins tonight.

Detroit has not been putting up a ton of offense of late, but Riley Greene is one of the few Tigers batters heating up right now. My Tigers vs. Twins predictions and MLB picks for Friday, August 15 will highlight why I think Greene is due for another productive night at the plate.

Tigers vs Twins prediction

Tigers vs Twins best bet: Riley Greene Over 1.5 total bases (+100)

The Detroit Tigers rallied from an early deficit to win the series opener in extra innings last night after Gleyber Torres cashed in the go-ahead run with a sac fly.

It was another impactful game for Riley Greene, who hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning to record his team-leading 28th home run of the season.

Offense has been hard to come by for the Tigers this week, with the team averaging just over three runs per game over its last four contests, but Greene has been one of the few players delivering on a consistent basis. The outfielder is hitting .320 over his last seven games and has 2+ total bases in five of his last six starts (excluding a game where he came in to pinch hit).

Greene and the Tigers will be facing Minnesota Twins starter Pierson Ohl, who is set to make just his fifth appearance and third start in the majors. The 25-year-old owns a 7.15 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP and was rocked by the Tigers for four earned runs and three homers just last Wednesday.

This will be a good opportunity for the Tigers to break out of their offensive slump, and I’m betting that Greene will be at the center of the action.

Tigers vs Twins same-game parlay (SGP)

The Tigers are in a bit of a scoring slump but still own a Top-10 offense in the majors at 4.78 runs per game this season. With Ohl looking shaky over his first four MLB appearances, I think we see the visitors snap out of their slump and put up a big number tonight.

Charlie Morton has also been pretty bad for Detroit, though, with a 5.48 ERA over 25 games this year. He’s coming off a brutal game against the Los Angeles Angels where he gave up six earned runs over 4 1/3 innings, so don’t be surprised if the Twins put up a few runs as well.
