The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees will open a weekend series in Missouri.

While both teams still have postseason aspirations, the situation for the Yankees is a bit more tense, as New York has multiple contenders in the American League breathing down their necks.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals still have a chance but remain somewhat of an outsider for the postseason after their series in Colorado. With two questionable pitchers on the mound, we’re targeting some offensive props tonight.

My Yankees vs. Cardinals predictions break it down here as I bring you my MLB picks for when the two teams meet on Friday, August 15.

Yankees vs Cardinals prediction

Yankees vs Cardinals best betAaron Judge Over 1.5 total bases (-115)

This is a rare spot for Aaron Judge, created by a mediocre past month.

The likely AL MVP has struggled (at least by his standards) over the past few months but has a great matchup tonight. The best part? He’s not being overvalued in the market because of such matchups.

With myself and The Bat X aligned, I’m happily grabbing the Over 1.5 bases.

Judge has one career plate appearance against St. Louis Cardinals starter Andre Pallante (a walk), which more or less renders it useless.

However, beyond that aspect, Judge figures to be in a great spot tonight. The three primary pitches of Pallante (fastball, slider, sinker) are three pitches that Judge ranks in the top three among the New York Yankees in hard-hit rate against.

Judge performing favorably in these metrics is certainly not earthshaking news, given that he’s Aaron Judge; however, the fastball reliance is quite a story.

Pallante throws the heater over 50% of the time, and the season-long metrics heavily indicate how little he trusts his other options.

This will put him in the uncomfortable position of being forced to throw some heaters to Judge, who is one of the best fastball hitters of his generation.

For me, this is as simple as that, and I’d play it down to -133.

Yankees vs Cardinals same-game parlay (SGP)

We’re adding an alternate strikeout total for Yankees pitcher Luis Gil. Situationally, this makes sense, given the near-sleepwalking performance the Cardinals have shown over the last two weeks.

However, there are several underlying metrics that point to him creating tons of swings and misses. I see about a 3% edge in this number.
