The Toronto Blue Jays return home from California to open a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Rogers Centre.

Ben Brown starts for the Cubbies, and his heavy dose of the fastball plays into the strength of this Jays lineup, and the value on Joey Loperfido’s hits prop is too juicy to ignore.

Blue Jays predictions for August 12

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Go get 'em, Loperfido

Joey Loperfido Over 0.5 hits (-120 at BetVictor)

Chicago Cubs right-hander Ben Brown has struggled in his sophomore season, going 5-7 with a 6.04 ERA.

That is the fifth-worst among pitchers who’ve thrown 90+ innings. Brown relies on a heavy dose of the fastball, with a 57% usage on his four-seamer, while sprinkling in a knuckle-curve a fair amount (38% usage), and a rare changeup (5%).

The Toronto Blue Jays are very good at hitting the fastball as a unit, but one player is showing particular prowess against the four-seamer of late: Joey Loperfido

The outfielder sports a batting average of .500 with an .808 slugging rate against the pitch.

His price to get just one hit tonight is insanely cheap at -120. Considering the matchup on the mound, that's great value, especially since he’s hitting .387 since the All-Star break and has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last eight.

Brown has also struggled more against lefties than righties this season, allowing an opponent OPS of .899. The left-handed hitting Loperfido owns a .989 OPS against right-handed pitching. So the matchup is very much in Loperfido’s favor across the board.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Joey Loperfido Over 0.5 hits

Joey Loperfido Over 1.5 total bases

Addison Barger Over 1.5 total bases

I’ll continue to back Loperfido and take him to go Over 1.5 bases. The Jays outfielder is averaging 1.9 bases over his last 10 games and has an OPS of .989 against righties.

Additionally, Brown has been hit hard and often this year, ranking in the 1st percentile in average exit velocity. Extra base hits are certainly in the cards to cash this prop.

Addison Barger will also benefit, as he particularly crushes the ball against righties, seeing his slug climb from .369 to .545 with 38 of his 43 extra base hits coming against RHP.
