We’ve got a busy betting slate around Major League Baseball tonight, including the series opener between the Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers.

I’ll be fading both offenses tonight with two dominating pitchers on the mound who match up well against the opposing lineup.

Blue Jays predictions for August 29

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Pitchers Duel!

Pick: Under 7.5 (-115 at BetVictor)

If you’re a fan of offense, this might not be your favorite game of the season.

I’m anticipating an old-fashioned pitchers' duel tonight between the Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers, with Shane Bieber on the mound for Toronto and Freddy Peralta going for Milwaukee.

It’ll be Bieber’s second start since returning from Tommy John, but he was electric in his first outing, pitching six innings of two-hit baseball, surrendering just one run while recording nine strikeouts.

He was dotting the corners of the plate, generating a lot of swing and miss with his wipeout slider, using it to record four of his nine strikeouts against Miami.

The Brewers own the second-worst batting average against the slider this season (.174), with a 36% whiff rate on the pitch. Advantage Bieber.

On the other side, Peralta has been one of baseball's best pitchers this season, sporting a 15-5 record with a 2.68 ERA and a 2.81 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

The Brewers right-hander has been rolling in August with a 3-0 record and a league-best 0.41 ERA, while averaging 6.5 Ks per game.

Peralta has quite a bit of success against this Jays lineup too throughout his career, allowing an opponent batting average of just .167.

Advantage Peralta.

I believe the starters will keep the bats in check tonight, making for a low-scoring game, which is typical for this Brew Jays matchup. The Under is 4-0-1 over the last five meetings between these two ball clubs.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 7.5

Shane Bieber Over 4.5 strikeouts

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases

For the second leg of the SGP, I’ll continue to back Bieber and take him to record more than 4.5 strikeouts. He had nine in his first outing, and if he has the slider working for him tonight, that’s a perfect out-away pitching against the Brewers club, who can’t handle that pitch well.

For the final leg, let’s take Bo Bichette to go Over 1.5 total bases tonight. He’s hitting .462 over his last 10 games, going over this total in eight of those outings. He’s also 1-for-3 against Peralta, with that one hit being a homer.
