Como 1907 weren't even in Italy's top league four seasons ago. Now, they are in the top 10 in odds to win the Champions League after scoring nine goals against Lens midweek.
- The club was in Italy's fourth division as recently as 2017-18.
- Como never finished better than sixth in Serie A until 2025.
- Only PSG has a better goal difference in the Champions League.
Como were founded nearly 120 years ago. And while the name is normally associated with a beautiful tourist destination, it’s now attached to one of the fastest-rising clubs in world soccer.
The club reached Serie A, Italy’s top soccer league, for the first time in the 1913-14 season. It enjoyed scattered appearances in the league until the 2002-03 season, when it faced a financial collapse and bankruptcy and was immediately relegated to Serie B.
It took until 2024 to get back into Serie A under the management of legendary Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The club finished 10th in its first season back among the heavyweights in 2024-25 before climbing to fourth in 2025-26. Through 10 games, it is once again fourth and only five points behind league-leading Lazio.
Como, who had never finished better than sixth in Serie A until 2025, have seen their value grow from $800,000 to over $600 million in seven years under new owners.
Outside of its domestic competition, Como’s meteoric rise was put on full display in the last few weeks in the Champions League. That included an Oct. 21 match in which it outclassed Premier League club Manchester United, 4-1. During the game, Fabregas even instructed his players to take their foot off the gas.

Fabregas' message didn't appear to carry over to Como's match against Lens this week. The 9-1 result tied two Champions League records - most goals scored by one team in a match, matching Bayern Munich (2024), and largest winning margin, matching Real Madrid (2015) and Liverpool (2007).
Sportsbooks have adjusted to Como’s torrid form by pushing the club into the top 10 in Champions League odds.
