rkydyk.. Understand I think thats where we need to all pull together and come up with a set standard that works and use that model ... Im trying to come up with the formulas on the spread sheet that once you copy and past then it pulls the exact data from the collumns does the calculations for us .... but just need clearer channel on how we can all get together and do it this way ... Your thoughts

After you have copy the stats from statfox
    Right click in excel
    Click paste special
    A menu will appear
    Select unicode text
    And you are done.

Having a little fun with Excel, people?

This is the result on college football for tonight's game.

(I will be doing all college games later today and post the result for people who wanted the results. I suggest looking at the the predictions that differ at least +7 points from vegas line).

I'm not claiming to be 100% correct but I think its pretty darn accurate to what roughdrod31 was showing at the beginning of this thread. Originally he didn't include HFA (home field adavantage) but we will from here.

Start with FSU (sos) strenght of schedule/saragin USA Today

    FSU 77.68

    NC 65.38 + 3.50(HFA)=69.08

Add 77.68+69.08=146.76 Divide by 2 to get AVE. 146.76/2=73.38

    FSU 77.76 divided by 73.38 = 1.06 (1.059)

This number will be used to calculate FSU offense and NC YPPT

    NC 69.08 divided by 73.78 = .94

Start with FSU (we'll round up) All numbers from statfox

                    RUSH     PASS       YPPT

    FSU(off)    128(-8)    298(+86)    14.3(+1.5)

    OPP DEF  136        212            15.8

    NC(def)      113(-25)  125(-28)     16.8(-3.2)

    OPP OFF   138        153            13.6

    FSU Rushing  128+NCDEF 113= 241/2 AVE 120.5

    AVE Between OPP (-8) - (-25)= -33/2 AVE -16.5

    FSU RUSH 120.5 + (-16.5) = 104 x FSUsos 1.06= 110

    FSU Passing   298+125=423/2 AVE 211.5

    AVE Between OPP +86 - (-28) =58/2 AVE  +29

    FSU PASS     211.5 + 29 = 240.5 xFSUsos 1.06 =255

(the 255 is differant from my other post couldn't read my writing, sorry)

     YPPT            14.3 + 16.8 =31.2/2 AVE 15.5

                           +1.5 - (-3.2) = -1.7

I tease Army +17 over 32.5.  I don't think light rain with affect the score too much.  ( at least not to army since they rush the ball).

Use Internet Explorer if you are having paste problem in Excel.  FireFox creates problems when copy/paste table to Excel.  Not that you can't paste using FireFox, but you have to go through the paste special using Unicode Text and all hyperlink is lost.  If there are hyperlink in table that you need, then you will not loose them if you copy/paste from Internet Explorer.

this formula, in my opinion, is not supposed to predict yppt or how many yards or this and that. the only thing that this predicts is who covers the spread. in the system i use, it has rutgers covering the 20+. ignore the 8.9 yppt, its the score that matters

igotthegoods, that Rutgers yppt is way off. StatFox has 12.00. And, I double checked on Yahoo and came up with 11.99. (I don't think any college team has a number that low!) Army yppt is off as well. I had 16.2. And, Army actually hase a stronger schedule. And is at home. So, I really have no idea how you came to those numbers.

this formula, in my opinion, is not supposed to predict yppt or how many yards or this and that. the only thing that this predicts is who covers the spread. in the system i use, it has rutgers covering the 20+. ignore the 8.9 yppt, its the score that matters

Glad my under held. Was getting nervous, especially after they returned a punt for a touchdown in the first quarter.
