My My My...certainly seems to be a lot of tense words on the thread...gentlemen, gentlemen please!!
Though I hate going against my friends Dr. J and 3rd & Long, I like Green Bay minus the 3.5....these are two teams headed in opposite directions...Detroit has dropped 2 straight while GB has won 5 in a row (including impressive back-to-back road wins at Mile High and Arrowhead)..Detroit has O-Line issues and a suspect run game going against a nasty defense...I think the Lions will be hard-pressed to score a lot (GB has to keep Roy Williams in check)...when GB goes four and five wide on offense, they will stretch the Lions vertically and horizontally and Favre will pick them apart...look for a lot of draw plays and inside/middle screens from these formations...Ford Field is a fast track and the Pack has decent speed offensively...they are very well-coordinated on offense and Mike Mac will have them ready to play...
For the old retired coach, it all comes down to points...the avg score of a GB game is 26-16 while the Lions avg score is 23-23...GB is second only to Dallas in total points scored in the NFC (259) and second only to TB in points allowed (159)...yards don't mean much..it's all about the points...and I think Green Bay wins the turnover battle, is a more complete team and wins by a touchdown or so on the Lions home field...
Green Bay -3.5 (game)
Green Bay -2.5 (first half)
Good luck everyone! Enjoy your Thanksgiving and make some cheese to go with that turkey!!

the typical bettor has one thing that keeps them from winning consistently, especially in the NFL... they can't get around the "what have you done for me lately" perception... i tell people this all the time... it's very easy to predict what happened last week... but winning bets is about predicting what will happen THIS week...
Packers have been winning, Lions have been losing, so it's very easy to say, Packers will win easy... but as Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast my friends!"...
i hate the matchup of the Lions running game vs. the Pack LBs and run defense... but if Martz is smart he will line up 4 wide and throw the ball all game long... Kitna hasn't had his entire complement of weapons healthy all year long, and he finally does this game...
still, the key to this game will be the effort of the Lions... if they give a Lions Thanksgiving effort, which is what i PREDICT... they will win it outright...

I really wish I had some numbers or stats to post to back up my thoughts...but everystat possible seems to point towards the pack. If I'm not mistaken, and maybe I am, I thought going into last week that Detroit has caused the most turnovers in the NFL?? Wouldnt you think that would be good going against Brett Farve who has the tendency to force the tight passes?
I'm not dumb enough to say the 9-1 team is all luck...but man how many deep bombs are they going to let Farve through before they start playing man on the recievers with safeties in cover 2??? There have been a bunched of dropped ints this year and a bunch of times Farve has fit a ball into an opening so small that the ball would not have fit through if they pumped 1 more psi of air into the thing.
I just think some of the LUCK has got to run dry sooner or later...Pack the better team, but I think the Lions WR corp going to be able to put up LOTS of points...i really think Detroit wins...but worst case scenario...win this one by a hook.......
DETROIT 31
PACK 34

I'm also going with the hotter team here.......just like ScorpioTD said, Green Bay is on a five game win streak and Detroit dropped their last two games.
The Packers are ranked # 2 in the league for passing yds and the Lions are # 30 in the league against the pass.(advantagePackers)......Also, the Packers have allowed 14 sacks this year and ranks # 7 in the league and the Lions allowed 43 sacks this year and ranks # 32 in the league (advantage also Packers)
I understand the Lions always seem to play tough at home on Thanksgiving Day and that Brett Favre has not faired well in DOMES, but Favre is suprisingly having one of his best seasons of his career and I think that it continues here in Detroit.......
Packers @ the half
Packers -3 for the game
(leaning towards the under 47.5 but will wait)
Happy Thanksgiving to all
and Good Luck!!!!!!

Although Detroit plays indoors, Ford Field is not like the SilverDome, the SuperDome or the HoosierDome...I have coached there and it has almost a surreal warehouse feel to it as it is surrounded by old red brick warehouses...they basically built the stadium inside of a collection of huge warehouses...it's a nice facility but some of the seats are away from the action and it doesn't get incredibly loud in there like it does in traditional Dome buildings...they play on Field turf which has a natural grass feel and texture to it...anyway, just some info to share...good luck with your plays!

Hi guys, I am a long time reader and first time poster I think. If I have posted it was way long ago. Anyhow, I want to make a point real quick about the way people are saying that the Lions are special on Thanksgiving. In the recent past they have not came within 2 TDs of anyone they have played. The past 3 years, they were beaten by the Colts by 32, Falcons by 20, and most recently the Dolphins by 17. So my question is, why are they so special on Thanksgiving? I will take the over the total in this game as long as it stays right where it is and does not go up, but not sure about which side to take yet. I feel the score will be 31-21 one way or the other, but not sure if the Lions can put up 30 on the Pack D. Good luck all whatever you decide and have a great Thanksgiving and make lots of ..

50/50 on this game. To be honest, when I think about Thanksgiving, I literally picture in my head my whole family watching them get there asses beat every year. But this year seems different for them.. but at the same time this year is also different for Greenbay. I've done plenty of research but can't seem to lead on one team 100%. All this research is giving me a headache, I might just touch the total instead.

i think this is going to be a very fun game to watch, unlike the Lions thanksgiving day games over the past 5 or 6 years... will be nice to see an exciting one for a change... definitely don't see any way it will be a blowout either way... neither team is good enough or bad enough... i expect a shootout, too... lots of passing yards on both sides...

I THINK PACKERS GONNA WIN THIS ONE NO PROBLEM..THEY ARE A BETTER TEAM NOW COMPARE TO THE PREVIOUS YEARS. THEY COULD HAVE BEEN 10-0 IF YOU ONLY SAW THE GAME AGAINST CHICAGO. IM TAKING THE PACKERS HERE 28 - 14...

I don't doubt that Lions are a decent to maybe slightly above average team. It's not a miracle that Green Bay has gotten to where they have this year. It's because of hard work, better plays, and even a little bit of luck. There is definitely talent on the Green Bay team but not very many names stand out in the crowd except their long time QB. That helps out in the fact that not any one real player gets their head over bloated with ego and start doing the old school T.O. or Moss shit. So everyone can focus together as a team and achieve the overall goal, which is to pull out the win.
Even if GB somehow trails behind, you can at least have faith in the fact that Favre is good at coming back in the end. You can never count him down and out. It seems like you can teach an old dog new tricks. This old dog is very quick at learning and adapting that to his everyday game.
It just seems like they are being over looked again this week and it's better for Pack backers. A lot of people seem to think that handicappers put a low line on this game because you all think that Las Vegas wants everyone to pound the Pack and have the Lions pull out the upset and in turn making Vegas TONS of money on Turkey day.
Have you ever thought the opposite could be true? Maybe it's the intentions of Vegas for people to think otherwise and take Detroit, only to have them lose against the Pack and not cover and making Vegas big money.
I haven't picked my picks due to ONLY what has happened in the past. I look forward to the future to see if they are capable of winning that next spread. If the game doesn't look right to me in anyway, I simply stay away from it and move on to the next one. How do you think I'm currently 6-1 with my own personal opinion plays. I'm here to share my opinion with everyone and if they go with it, they made lots of money the last few weeks or so. If not then hey it's your decision. Just wishing you luck and hope you made money rather than paying your bookie.
Take that with a grain a salt and keep laughing at my expense. It doesn't hurt me none, trust me I won't lose any sleep over it tonight and while I'm enjoy watching the Pack pick apart the Lions tomorrow morning.

if i'm understanding the logic correctly, Xyberz... you're saying that maybe the Books post a low spread (i.e. 3.5 instead of say 5 or 6), knowing that people will see that it's a low spread, and thus think it seems fishy... they will then bet on the Lions, instead of the Pack, because they figure it's a trap... but it's actually a reverse trap...
very tricky, indeed... gotta hate those Books...

If you're the Lions and banged up, which they are, and need to win one of two games, Giants or Packers, who do you get up for? Packers. Why? Lions need this win in division more than a win vs. Giants. I think Lions are prepared for this game today big time.
If you're the Packers, and need to win one of two games, Lions or Cowboys, who do you get up for? Cowboys. Why? Packers need next weeks game to have the head to head advantage in conference. Packers are more concerned about Cowboys than Lions.
Yeah, I know... if Packers lose this week they'll be 9-2 vs. the Cowboys who should win today, "Boys will be 10-1.
A Packers win next week vs. the Cowboys places them both at 10-2, Packers have edge for NFC home field.
Packers can afford to lose this game.
Lions win

I see a lot of yall' posting green bay is the better team, last week Im sure the same ones where thinking the steelers where better then the jets' upsets do happen In the N.F.L. the lions are 11-5-1 All time against green bay on T------DAY and with HOME TAME BEING 15-4-1 ATS IN LAST 20 MEETINGS;;;; THIS ONE IS SET UP FOR A UPSET; FARVE HAS A BAD DAY'' DETROIT-27 GREEN BAY-23
