Hey guys, lets keep it simple.  GB let their only loss (chicago) slip away from them.  GB outplayed chicago for 3+ quaters.  GB should be undefeated and therefore would be compared with the likes of New England!!!  This spread should be 7-10 points. 
 
 I am from Detroit and know "traditionally"  the Lions play good on Thanksgiving but not against a top team.  Remember Thanksgiving vs. Indy a couple years back???   BLOWOUT

GB should be undefeated and therefore would be compared with the likes of NE...
 
i have to say, that kind of logic actually is more of an argument AGAINST GB... because i think we all know that they are nowhere NEAR that class... not even in the class of Dallas or Indy... i mean, Indy has a better argument for saying they should be undefeated than GB does... GB has pulled 2 games out of their asses... so you could say they SHOULD BE 7-3...
 
i mean... let's say they were 10-0 right now... do you really think this is a team that is good enough to end up maybe 15-1?  are they a 15-1 team?  HELL NO!  law of averages says they slip up somewhere they shouldn't...

THD... thanksgiving a couple years back Detroit was a bottom of the barrel team... i already pointed out... in years when Detroit is even average (8-8, 7-9), they get up for this game and knock off powerhouse teams... recently, they have been a doormat and simply didn't have the talent to compete... the Indy game a couple years ago is irrelevant...

Lions, Lions, and some more Lions.  I will take the home dog on national TV.  Favre does not fair will in domes, and I think GB is going to hit a little late year snag and limp into the playoffs.  GB is not as good as they have been playing.  Favre turns the ball over today and Kitna throws for over 300 and a couple of scores.

Detroit has fallen sooo far back down to earth. Kitna's prediction does not continue today. Like Trends? Packer are 6-1 on the road this year and Detroit has lost 3 straight Thanksgiving day games by a combined score of 93-26. Go Pack. Packers 31 Lions 17HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Packers vs. Lions +3.5 (2 units) - this is a huge rivalry game and now its being played on Thanksgiving this year which makes it even bigger.  The Lions always seem to be up for the turkey game and the Packers are due for a let down.  They might even be looking ahead to next week who knows.  Gonna take the FG+ points as I think it'll be a really close game.  Also gotta go with over 46.5 (1 unit) as I think both offenses show up (or at least provide sweet field position with a few turnovers).

I'm going with the Thursday home dog on this one too.  (Even though that trend is really more about college ball.)  
 
One unit on Detroit +3.5.
 
Reasons being:
 
- Detroit needs the win more
- Detroit at home on T-Day
- John Kitna's 10-win prediction at risk - he had led the team well
- Fans obsession with Favre = heavy lean on fave
- Det gets 2 lineman back today, DE Dewayne White and T Jon Scott
- GB does not have the pass rush the Giints do, and lose DT Jolly today
- Favre does not play well on the road in Detroit
 
Almost all Detroit fans are down on them winning today, conditioned to lose - but they get a nice surprise.  Remember the question is not who is the better team, but who will win TODAY, and most importantly who will COVER.

Any score within the first 6 minutes

I also thought the best play here today was a 3 team teaser also.  Very tough picks today.  My teaser was the same as most everyone else's, but instead of teasing Green Bay, I teased Detroit to +9.  They will keep this game fairly close I believe.  Favre and the boys haven't played in a dome since they played at Minni (23-16) and I believe Detroit will be ready for them on this Turkey day.  BTW, home team is 15-4-1 ATS last 20 meetings so be careful jumping on the Pack here (85% public fave).  I am a big Lions fan and this game is always a good one.  I thought about parlaying the Jets +14 with the over 47, but I think Dallas (80% public faves) is dangerous right now and T.O. is on a roll.  I also thought about taking Atl. since Indy hasn't covered in a few weeks and the Colts (85% pub. fave) are giving almost two TD's to Harrington and the Falcons, but the Colts are due for one of those 38-16 games.  So I just teased Detroit to +9, NYJ to +20, and Indy to -6.5.  I also chose to take all 3 faves in the first half.  I am weary though and here is why:
These are all Road/Home stats for the 1st Half (averages)
Green Bay:  9 pts for/7.5 against
Detroit:  8.4 pts for/6.2 against
NYJ:  10 pts for/8.5 against
Dallas:  12.4 pts for/13.6 against
Indy:  12.8 pts for/9.2 against
Atl.:  10.8 pts for/12.4 against.
 
I essentially am going against the grain here, but what the hell it's gambling.  Thought this info might help.  Good luck and happy thanksgiving.

I'm with you Colonel.......I love the situational play on Detroit and the over......Detroit can't stop the pass(ranked 30th?? I believe???) They refuse to run, even though they have a decent back......Farve has more weapons than he has had in years.......the only x factor is GB's D.  They really have a solid defense.  If Kitna throws a couple jump balls to 81 and 11.....Detroit can not only win this game.....but it will certainly go over......even though the trend in this matchup is under......GL everyone

Love that I am the only one in here on the Lions today.  Lions D getting healthy, GB lost starting DLman....Grant's ankle is going to be a question if he plays.

Though I hate going against my friends Dr. J and 3rd & Long, I like Green Bay minus the 3.5....these are two teams headed in opposite directions...Detroit has dropped 2 straight while GB has won 5 in a row (including impressive back-to-back road wins at Mile High and  Arrowhead)..Detroit has O-Line issues and a suspect run game going against a nasty defense...I think the Lions will be hard-pressed to score a lot (GB has to keep Roy Williams in check)...when GB goes four and five wide on offense, they will stretch the Lions vertically and horizontally and Favre will pick them apart...look for a lot of draw plays and inside/middle screens from these formations...Ford Field is a fast track and the Pack has decent speed offensively...they are very well-coordinated on offense and Mike Mac will have them ready to play...
 
For the old retired coach, it all comes down to points...the avg score of a GB game is 26-16 while the Lions avg score is 23-23...GB is second only to Dallas in total points scored in the NFC (259) and second only to TB in points allowed (159)...yards don't mean much..it's all about the points...and I think Green Bay wins the turnover battle, is a more complete team and wins by a touchdown or so on the Lions home field...

Green Bay wasn't in sync last year but swept Detroit home and away.  This year, they are playing more as a team.  They know each other's tendencies and playing better (6-1).

Green Bay is a team that you will need to take until they fail to cover.  Favre will be passing the ball all up and down on the Lion's secondary.  They SUCK!  I don't care how much Thanksgiving day means this week, it won't make the Lions defense play that much better.

Well enough beatin up on this guy but 1. GB beat a disorganized Giants D in the beginning of the year. Two, AZ finally stuck with canned Leftwich....AZ' doesnt suck, neither do the Giants, and guess what....neither do Lions.

Take stats and toss them out window for Thanksgiving.

Farve to choke....Lions to win.....Madden can take that stupid drumstick and stick in his......

I wish it were that easy (above).....fact is this should be a close game....that could go either way.....I am taking the 3.5 points with Detroit.  Jets 1h +8 Dallas game -14......believe this or not......I am taking  Atlanta to the cover 11.5......something is wrong with Manning and the Colts are beat up with injuries.....then again Atlanta has who? Exactly.... nobodies chance to shine on Thanksgiving with points

I can read Teabag....the overwhelming majority of folks in here are all over GB.  Relax, don't take an expression like "everybody is on this team" so seriously.  Obviously others are betting on Detroit or the line wouldn't be where its at.....I just think its funny that EVERYONE in here (again, expression) is all over the Pack. 
 
Am always leary when public (and in this case....this forum) is all over a team....was mearly making a case for why I think the Lions will cover today

i like what ur sayin' here patsgirl....or should i call you little bigdaddy?.....I just don't like ur pick of the over....too obvious that this game should go over..........but the 1st half and game picks are dead on i think.......1 and a half unit 3 play parlay for me on GB at the half and Lions for the game and under............oh yeah.....maybe I'm missin' somethin', but I don't understan' why you guys beat up on the dude that messed up on what kinda stadium the Lions played in......all yinz did was detract from the legitimate discussion about this game.........not like yinz ta do that....he made a mistake......dang guys....lighten up!!!!!

Point taken  I have officially bet Detroit +3/12 and took Jets 1st 1/2 +9. Dallas hasn't played well in the 1st half of games but has dominated 3rd quarter. I am hoping to get lucky and catch a close 1st half and try to get a decent line on Dallas for second half.
