Jon Stewart and Ezra Klein had a nice talk about the Biden Admins layers and layers of bureaucracy for states to get funding from build back better. 14 steps to get funding. There are 56 applications from states. In three years only three have made to step 14. And you wonder why only a handfull of electric car charging stations have been built. Reminds me of Los Angeles. Two months since wildfire only 4 building permits approved, three for repair of structure, one for total rebuild.
I saw some clips from that......quite telling. Funny, that "build back better" thing never really evolved into anything more than failed slogan. I have friends in the construction biz & all have commented on how biz has slowed to a point of many projects being delayed, even halted, mostly due to funding. Higher interest rates had it's part in it......but none of them mentioned benefiting from any gov't, policy.

Hundreds of anti-Musk protests have erupted across the US, Canada and Europe. Since Musk's controversial work for Trump administration, Tesla has become a symbol of injustice and target of vandalism. Since December 2024, Tesla share price has fallen 45%.

The Atlantic warns that DOGE cuts could actually increase federal deficits for several reasons. First, savings have turned out to be fake because of accounting errors. Manhattan institute estimates savings so far at almost $2 billion despite DOGE $130 billion claim. Secondly, IRS expects 10% revenue loss or $500 billion in 2025 because of a shortage of IRS workers. Third, damages from illegal firings and paying workers to do nothing are likely to be costly. Ultimately, Musk is weakening government functioning without improving fiscal position.

What is your estimate on how much DOGE.... The Dept. of Government Efficiency ( set to disband by July 4, 2026) will cut federal spending by the dead line?
The end of the moth will be the last day to enter an estimate for the record..
Barbarossa--"enough to balance the budget"
Raders22- " I will be optimistic and go with a high number of $1T "
Uniman-- "I'll say no more than $500 billion."
SarasotaSlim-" I will say Musk The DOGEFather .. will fall a little short ,however he has a fair chance of cutting 850 Billion.....
unplucked_gem-- " I come in over 1 trillionfound with half that getting cut."
My apologies for missing one members estimate .. It's been hard to keep up with ,,with all the unnecessary thread movements.
If you don't see your estimate on the list PLEASE reenter you estimate ..TY

it’s all about deflection and fake validation ….
cuz since when did protesting mean you wreck things and set them ablaze with ?
different chemicals and special incendiary agents ?
I guess it’s just the same ol’ same shit ,
if you’ve always been an employee and you’ve never a boss then you’re at a loss with what it takes it’s
stress and headaches and laziness upon mouth agapes with ,
the dimwitted gaze at their Facebooks or their playthings
it’s XBox and PlayStations , and Tik Toks taking away concentration
and they wonder why they hate him ?
maybe it’s because he wants you to work and not worry about your own personal escapades . Shit .
I can’t hear life long employees that have never been owners criticize when it comes to how and why a boss decides to do things that impact his business . There’s too many things that you will never understand that happen behind the scenes .
BACK PATTING and KISSING threads are like passing HAM SANDWICHES around over and over-wall

Depends if it is what Elon and co. will say or we are talking real saving numbers - I know how big standard you guys live by, and how much due diligence you do - so I of course work on the assumption it is the real numbers - so my guess is 3.5 million - if it is what Elon will say it will be atleast 2 trillion - he can’t take a loss they will rather lie than that

Patience. It has only been 5 days since Bondi said at the meeting she had been given information now and had the internal task force working with the various departments. She did say that now the DoJ is working with DOGE. With a rate of around 90% pleading guilty at that level, it is largely because they take the time to make sure their ducks are in a row.

At Kalshi prediction market, gamblers are skeptical about how much government spending will be cut before 2026. At least 1 billion 39%. 25 billion 34%. 100 billion 30%. 250 billion 20%. 500 billion 16%. 750 billion 14%. 1 trillion 11%. 2 trillion 4%.

President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, which is prohibited by the Constitution under the 22nd Amendment, saying in an exclusive interview with NBC News that there were methods for doing so and clarifying that he was “not joking.”

lmfaoooooooooooooo keep listening to the spin, while doge is firing people. every firing in this admin has been done by doge and not dept heads deciding how many employees are needed. Keep living in that crazy reality you seem to be living in.
Only magas believe that firing all these employees is gonna lower their taxes, lolllllllllllllllll.
Just remember magas what goes around in life comes around. So while your all sitting on your couches laughing at people losing their jobs because of some scumbag south african immigrant, just know karma is a bitch and it always catches up, you cant hide from it forever. Karma is always looking for the bad people and it finds them.

If DOGE is trimming gov't fat, why would you be against that? Why would you be ok with the govt wasting YOUR (assuming you work and contribute to society) tax dollars? News flash people do not believe that DOGE letting people go that may not be fully efficient will lower their taxes. That is NOT the point of DOGE and never has been. People are not cheering DOGE firing people. People are cheering someone holding the govt accountable for OUR tax dollars. It's easy to spend someone else's money. It sucks when it's YOUR money that's getting wasted. It's not a good society to drive around (mostly liberal cities) and see homeless everywhere, trash in the streets, open drug use, crime etc and then watching the gov't waste money. Every successful business trims fat, the gov't should be no different and should held accountable for their finances. Do you know how much the US is paying IN INTEREST yearly? Interest! Please explain how that's sustainable for the long run while not affecting your bottom line.

So do you consider what they are cutting as "fat"? And if so how was this determined and why this fat vs other more substantial fat? There are much more productive ways to cut costs than to fire people who have not been evaluated because they are not lobby supported power centers of the government and have no backing to broker for their jobs.
Nobody in the kid clan has done an analysis of job performance or value, I do not see a method or a process that seems more than buckshot project 2025 partisan attacking from them or from Trump in general.
I do not consider cutting average citizen low to mid rate jobs as productive nor as fat without the analysis to determine if this is the case. In the real world the process of RIF determination takes a year plus if the objective is to streamline and join overlapping functions and reduce unnecessary labor costs. This did not happen here as these tech doods are not skilled or trained in HR analysis.

An analogy if I may. Did the NFL rule changes a few years back immediately stop vicious hits? No it did not, in fact they still happen years later. However the entire mindset of the players shifted and they're more cognizant of their actions.
But most on here want to argue and play politician vs. have simple collaborative conversations.
