The Atlantic warns that DOGE cuts could actually increase federal deficits for several reasons. First, savings have turned out to be fake because of accounting errors.  Manhattan institute estimates savings so far at almost $2 billion despite DOGE $130 billion claim.  Secondly, IRS expects 10% revenue loss or $500 billion in 2025 because of a shortage of IRS workers.  Third, damages from illegal firings and paying workers to do nothing are likely to be costly.  Ultimately, Musk is weakening government functioning without improving fiscal position.

Depends if it is what Elon and co. will say or we are talking real saving numbers - I know how big standard you guys live by, and how much due diligence you do - so I of course work on the assumption it is the real numbers - so my guess is 3.5 million  - if it is what Elon will say it will be atleast 2 trillion - he can’t take a loss they will rather lie than that

Elon Musk does not have the statutory authority to fire people in the U.S.Government...........

There hasn’t been one criminal charge originating from the billions of dollars in fraud DOGE claims to have found.

Patience.  It has only been 5 days since Bondi said at the meeting she had been given information now and had the internal task force working with the various departments.  
She did say that now the DoJ is working with DOGE.  With a rate of around 90% pleading guilty at that level, it is largely because they take the time to make sure their ducks are in a row.

 If DOGE is trimming gov't fat, why would you be against that? Why would you be ok with the govt wasting YOUR (assuming you work and contribute to society) tax dollars? News flash people do not believe that DOGE letting people go that may not be fully efficient will lower their taxes. That is NOT the point of DOGE and never has been. People are not cheering DOGE firing people. People are cheering someone holding the govt accountable for OUR tax dollars. It's easy to spend someone else's money. It sucks when it's YOUR money that's getting wasted. It's not a good society to drive around (mostly liberal cities) and see homeless everywhere, trash in the streets, open drug use, crime etc and then watching the gov't waste money. Every successful business trims fat, the gov't should be no different and should held accountable for their finances. Do you know how much the US is paying IN INTEREST yearly? Interest! Please explain how that's sustainable for the long run while not affecting your bottom line.

So do you consider what they are cutting as "fat"? And if so how was this determined and why this fat vs other more substantial fat? There are much more productive ways to cut costs than to fire people who have not been evaluated because they are not lobby supported power centers of the government and have no backing to broker for their jobs.

Nobody in the kid clan has done an analysis of job performance or value, I do not see a method or a process that seems more than buckshot project 2025 partisan attacking from them or from Trump in general. 

I do not consider cutting average citizen low to mid rate jobs as productive nor as fat without the analysis to determine if this is the case. In the real world the process of RIF determination takes a year plus if the objective is to streamline and join overlapping functions and reduce unnecessary labor costs. This did not happen here as these tech doods are not skilled or trained in HR analysis.

An analogy if I may.  Did the NFL rule changes a few years back immediately stop vicious hits?  No it did not, in fact they still happen years later.  However the entire mindset of the players shifted and they're more cognizant of their actions.

But most on here want to argue and play politician vs. have simple collaborative conversations.
