    @Rush51

Amazon is not delivering to every address in the US every day, nor is the USPS charging a yearly fee for service nor is Amazon available to every US location the way that the USPS is.

Capitalism works when it can function for a profit at a reasonable scale, the comparison of Amazon and the USPS is just odd, not even close to the same nor is there a mandate for Amazon to run a route to every single address 6 days a week and some areas 7.

There is a reason that UPS or Amazon has not taken over residential mail service, they have no interest and it would fail miserably. Where would those two have local service centers like the USPS? I live in a heavy metro area and Amazon has a shipping center but not a service facility and UPS has ONE service center for a three city zone. I have no idea how you are trying to compare those organizations it makes no sense when the characteristics and limitations are not the same.

@wallstreetcappers along with the fact that they are UNDER staffed and their technology is so far behind

So you're saying they are inefficient? What is the whole concept of DOGE? Why has the DMV been so far behind for so long? Why can the govt not figure out how to fix it? Why does it take a private citizen to come in to catch the govt up on technology so they can run an efficient business, like the DMV? DMV is not 100% customer facing. How does it take over 4 months to ship a sticker out or take multiple months to correct one simple issue? When your business is so far behind, your customers have every right to be pissed. Customers should also know it not the person they are speaking with fault, they are simply doing a job. But the higher ups are the ones responsible and they don't take any of the heat so they don't give a damn on fixing anything. Why work harder and not get paid more is the mentality. After all, it's not their own business, it's the tax payers business, the same people they are pissing off.

Working 45 hours a week in 4 days a week is NOT the same as working 45 hour weeks 5 days a week. While business is conducted on Fridays, govt work is off for 3 straight days. So all that work that piles up on Friday, gets pushed to Monday and they start out behind and are only playing catch up. If the govt is understaffed, they should add more staff to become more efficient. Tired of the excuse that the govt is understaffed. Another excuse is they are just lazy and not held accountable by anyone. They are staffed with tax payers money and we're finding out through DOGE that there's a shit ton of waste. Maybe if that waste was put to good use, we wouldn't have issues in our govt? an_light

People are not cheering DOGE firing people. People are cheering someone holding the govt accountable for OUR tax dollars. It's easy to spend someone else's money. It sucks when it's YOUR money that's getting wasted. It's not a good society to drive around (mostly liberal cities) and see homeless everywhere, trash in the streets, open drug use, crime etc and then watching the gov't waste money. Every successful business trims fat, the gov't should be no different and should held accountable for their finances. Do you know how much the US is paying IN INTEREST yearly? Interest! Please explain how that's sustainable for the long run while not affecting your bottom line.
Libs are against anything that Trump or the right proposes/does, simply out of spite. Remember, these people made excuses for Biden & his actions, & then voted for Harris. an_wink

    Absolutely I am comparing them.
I am asking you to compare.  You are knocking one and not saying exactly what is better.
    Was theirs better or no?

Your logic stops when you force a narrative with more characteristics which are dissimilar than are similar. I guess you have one thing that is similar, private sector is people working and government sector is people working, there you go a solid correlation right there.

What else are you going to compare it to?

Not the other countries I gave you the examples of with their TSAs I hope.  That would not work either, because they are more efficient as well.
You have to compare it to the normal expected output of a worker.  Unless, you are holding a government worker to a lower standard.  They are not that dissimilar at all. Some are simply providing a customer service.  Even with the DMVs — some are far more well run than others.  Why.  Because they put the effort in to fix it.  It is not that the characteristics are that different.  They are not.  You basically want the same thing from them all and are not getting it.  Either the folks are not being managed correctly or they simply are incompetent and should not be doing the job.  The lowest level of fast food chain will have some places that are far better than others.  That is why you have to ask why that is.  Therefore you use the good one as an example to compare the bad one to.  Even though it is a different city and a different set of folks work there.  Bottom line is work is work and people are people and managers are managers.  You need accountability in the workplace.  You have it to a far better degree in the private sector.

I guess the first step is to even admit that there is a problem.
You do not even admit this.
Then you go about fixing it. Then you can argue about what needs to be done.
I guess if you do not see a problem then you certainly do not think things should be messed with.
I just see it as a huge problem that needs fixing.

    @BigGame90

That reply is so crazy I am not even sure where to start. A government employee does not need to work 45 hours a week, how is this a standard you think is reasonable? They work 40 hours a week in a different format, there is no lazy there is no take advantage they work 40 hours standard that everyone else does. Ive worked 10s before with a flex day every other week it is not out of the ordinary you just did not understand this and now you do and you should move on.

The technology issue is more complex than you think, how much data is there that the older systems are holding and storing? The DVM has 75 years of data on it and their systems are never state of the art due to cost and implementation, the government is very slow to upgrade technology on the customer facing front because of cost and time. Why is it that you conclude that a time delay is due to inefficiency? Have you worked there? Is your experience the only experience that exists? Maybe there is turnover or a problem that you are unaware of, maybe instead of pounding sand you could waltz down there and find out what the problem is with a pleasant open demeanor rather than some old codger throwing temper around, you might actually find out information that would give perspective.

The last vehicle I purchased was a used Honda and I properly filled out my title forms, had all the items I needed and I went off peak, i was in and finished in 15 minutes, I got the new title in 2 weeks. Down here we have emissions testing on all vehicles and I go off peak usually I am done in 30 minutes, I do my vehicle tax work online and I get my new sticker in less than a week. I do not share your view on the DMV and I do not share your view on government workers being lazy and for sure I do not share your view that these dropouts are making anything better, if you dislike long wait times these actions are going to make things much much worse.

I am not interested in some numbers you tossed up there without context. Please resubmit your research with more detail and clarity for a proper response. I am very disappointed with this poor submission lacking detail and analysis, you can do better than this. For someone who demands a dissertation response, this stuff is way beneath your requirements...do better.

So your solution to a problem is to blow it up? You have HR and RIF experience so is this how you have gone about making all the numerous private or public companies better with your expertise by just randomly axing peoples job? This is your solution and it is lazy useless and unproductive.

I have a different perspective regarding a reorganization and my approach is to make things better, to build and develop people not axe them without any understanding of what they do or what the expectation should be, how they measure up and what could be done to help them and to praise and develop them.

Your side is so punitive and punishing in their approach, but given the draconian abusive leader you forwarded this makes perfect sense. I guess it is lucky that Trump speaks but does not follow what comes out of his mouth, he said that if a POTUS was in office and the stock market was down 1k he should be fired...yeah good ole Trump loves to kick everyone else and give himself all the outs. Talk about accountability and leading by example, we are so fortunate to have a zero ego dictator in chief.

That sounds like you went to a licensing office for tabs/titles, not the DMV. Maybe they're one in the same down there but not up here. The DMV's in WA are a fuckin nightmare. You can show up before 9am opening & there will already be a line outside.

@wallstreetcappers  Last thing, you are flawed in your friday example...in the government employees sometimes CAN choose to work 10 hour days and then get every other friday OFF but it is not OFF they are working 45 hours a week getting alternate fridays off.

I'm using your 45 hour/Wk as an example. I never said anything about working every other Friday (you did) because my local govt depts take EVERY Friday off. I just re-read my post and I didn't clean it up as I started and stopped the post while being distracted. Hope you could read between the lines and put it together. I'll proof read next time. The format of working M-Th is ridiculous for a govt body. Private working M-Th sure, that's on them if they want time off. Govt working 4 days a week and taking every ridiculous federal holiday off is ludicrous and theft of tax payers IMO. When I'm trying to get work done with my local govt dept, they would claim "so and so is out sick" as an excuse for being so far behind. Work that would have taken several hours, took more than year and I got excuse after excuse and delay after delay. It's because they didn't want to do the work they are supposed to do. Hence, being lazy because they don't have to take accountability. Who do you call when your local govt is not keeping up with work?  You can't call their manager like you can with private can you? And lets be real, working 10 hours a day is really like 5 when working from home. Why don't they just work 12 hour days and only work 3 days a week from home? Hell, make it 16 hours for 2 days.

So what, you expect the DMV to run the same old system for the next 5 decades because it costs to much to update? Have you not seen the nations debt? With that logic, we'd still be using horse and buggy. My whole point is, maybe there would be the time and funds available IF the govt were to stop wasting our tax dollars an_light.  A time delay IS because of inefficiency from outdated programs. It took the DMV over 4 months to send a car registration that was paid well in advance. They also screwed up the paper work and took over 1.5 months to fix it and it was their fault the entire time because of outdated systems. So yes, there is a shit ton of inefficiency that can be fixed in time. I'm 100% sure my experiences are not the only ones. If it was, they wouldn't be so far behind. I'm not waltzing down to the DMV to stand in line for 4 hours for the rep to tell me they'll look into it and get back to me with a letter in the mail. Took over 4 months to process the registration and mail out a sticker. Glad you got yours in a timely manor. They were very inefficient in my case. I'll let everyone else bitch about the long waits. I've had easy trips to DMVs outside of big cities in the past. I would purposefully drive further away to smaller cities because I knew there was no wait. The DMV brick and mortar is not my issue, their systems and processing is.

This was a stand alone reply.  It was as in answer to a direct question.
That is why it was a separate post.
Try to keep up. Then try to answer the question posed to you.   I answered your questions in the other posts

For someone who demands a dissertation response, this stuff is way beneath your requirements...do better.

This was a stand alone reply.  It was as in answer to a direct question.
That is why it was a separate post.
Try to keep up. Then try to answer the question posed to you.   I answered your questions in the other posts

    @Raiders22

You answered with no detail or analysis, if I wanted some numbers I could type them myself. If you want to compare groups please do so with more than blank numbers as this promotes discussion. Posting partisan comparison to validate some current issues is weak. Lets have discussion and discord not phantom pocket experts and numbers with no context or details.

Do better...for someone who demands an expose to validate your messages are not meeting the mark.

I two days ago journeyed to the Office of the DMV , with a worry and a caution in my thoughts where I think and contemplate what is and what could possibly be , I was ready to be distraught , cuz often it’s been a complete , terror filled experience that left me ghostly ill and feeling mighty , slighted , but this time they was nice as shit , even though things were slow and I waited , probably longer than Hitler did to get his wings at Heaven’s Gate cuz it , was six , then seven , then sixty seven minutes later I went : “ I’m still in the same place where I beginned ! this is crazy as shit ! “ but I’d be remiss if i didn’t state my appreciation for this one lady who whipped , and skipped , me though my frustrations , she was great what a prince-, -cess , so off that head , I’m tremendously accepting to give , this authentic first person perspective of my pleasurable trip ……

Translation : spockgato traveled to the Division of Motor Vehicles expecting the worst , and although he waited quite a bit he found most of the staff , especially one employee , very kind and quite helpful , making his experience a good one . peace_5

    @wallstreetcappers

Yes, that is fine — to the extent that they are ‘blowing it up’.

First you have to admit there is a problem.  I have not even seen you admit there is a problem.

Then the question to you is: how do you fix it?

If you wait and let Congress ‘investigate’ it and set up committees to study it — it will never get done.

Trump only has a year-and-a-half to do this.

The other question is still: if not Musk, then who.

Absolutely, you can blow it up.   I still am okay with the Hacksaw Jack method.
Most places you go, if you lay off the bottom folks that are not working or performing then the rest will promptly go to work and start performing even better.
You see several examples of this.  Even what Musk did at Twitter laying off 40% of the folks and still chugging along.

If you do not think there is a problem in government with excess folks, non-performing folks and waste — then of course you think it is all wrong.
This does not have to be a long drawn out procedure.  Just get it done and go from there.
Look at all of the presidents that have tried or expressed interest and never did it.  The government only grew under them and worsened under them.  You pretty much have to go back to Coolidge to see how to do it.

Sure, of course you make people better.  But if the managers have not been doing it — then fire those managers.
But if you have too many people to start with because the people have not gotten better — you have to let some people go.  That is just the way it works.

It almost had to be punishing in some way.  That is exactly what should be expected by a worker for poor performance.  Most of those jobs are not hard to do at all.  So, if they are really needed — replace them with someone that will do that job.
If they are not needed and the job can be spread to better performing workers — then still let them go but there will be no need to replace them.

You first have to see that there is a problem.  Then you have to address it in a very quick time table.

I am sure if Trump does not ‘perform’ the voters will make sure to let him know soon enough.
But in order to improve things he has to do what he campaigned on.  This is simply part of it.

Again, you cannot just say that folks need to be developed to know how to perform and do their job, or to simply work or be kind to customers.  This is common sense in every other job.
I always tell people when you are in a merit-based operation you should think you will be the last person laid off.  If you are worried that you are on the cutting block, it is only for one of two reasons.  We either do not need your job any longer or we have too many doing your job now.
So, if you are worried about being laid off you know deep down maybe your performance was not up to par.  Or if you are worried they just have to cut all of your department, period; then you should be making yourself more valuable so that maybe they consider putting you in another job.
There is rarely, rarely any excuse for a worker that has been on a job for an extended period of time to not be performing.  There is no development’ needed.  This is where the ‘punishment’ you are referring to should take place, in some form.
This has not been happening in government like in other jobs; it is long overdue.

I was not answering your question with that post.  I was presenting you data and questioning you where you stood with that as a comparison for a starting point.
Those were Democrats that wanted to fix it.  Were you okay with them wanting to?

It just seems you are against trying to fix it now because a Republican is trying to fix it.

As far as your question(s), go back and read the answers again.
Or ask exactly what part of it I did not answer that you did not see or understand what I meant.
I will gladly rephrase it for you or clarify it.

You answered a question with unqualified data, I asked for more than a set of numbers as I am not interested in blind unqualified data. A discussion is best suited by providing detail and context, especially coming from you. As you demand excess you must be better than what you demand and in the case of that data dump you failed miserably.

The thing about the data is I know it is flawed, I am not some doobie you can data dump and then parade around in victory so sorry that you cannot bully me with silly blind expert garbage and data dumping, that schtick fails with Trump-esque flying colors.

For someone who types so much you really do a mediocre job regarding discord and discussion, you like to throw down and intimidate then talk down to people as if you are superior when this approach shows you are either unable or unwilling to have actual discussion. If I wanted a king of the hill data battle I will still not come to you but it is obvious you lean on unqualified data and faceless experts to intimidate.

So clarify and qualify your data dump above, or just keep deflecting and avoid the pain you will experience when you actually have to compare similar conditions and not just throw out some generalized useless data figures.

I had a great experience at the DMV . Minus the wait time . And all of the workers were courteous and looked busy enough to me , and they spoke nicely to me with manners and grace too , even though I could tell that they were under a considerable amount of stress because the place was jam packed like it was 2 dollar beer night at the bar by a college campus . I was impressed . Could just be an isolated incident . But in my heart of hearts I want it to be the norm and not a one-off , or something that just happens rarely or spasmodically peace_5

I think that’s how people change their opinions on things . Because I was firmly entrenched in that “ aww fuck man them government employees don’t do shit “ way of thinking because I have a lot of experience in seeing many examples of that throughput the course of my lifetime , but this small sparkle of hope that this most recent DMV trip provided to me could be the impetus for turning that belief on it’s ear . That’s how things manifest themselves in regards to change or evolution . Something happens that leads to new or different courses of events into becoming a reality . I like to feel that history was made that day . Within myself peace_5
