But you were ok with people getting fired for refusing the vax, right? So now you care because it's govt employees but didn't give two shits when it was so called Republicans (and libs) who were refusing the vax. So you're ok with the sniper method of picking off those that do not bow to the vax, but you don't like the so called buckshot method? We could have spent time evaluating those that refused the vax to see if they were healthy, had any underlying conditions, were obese etc, but we didn't, did we?
I'll always remember what someone told me when they were looking for work while in school. They said, "I want to work for the govt because it's easy and you don't really have much to do and you get paid a lot". They knew because their family worked for the govt. I'll never forget that.
IMO, DOGE is trying to streamline to help with efficiency.
@unplucked_gem Some people only want to cast blame and I mostly attribute that to the media and how fixated people are with it. Media is propaganda and has been for a long time.

Show me where I was ok with people being fired for refusing the vax, that is not my position but the largest difference is that the companies who were doing this were public/private companies so legally at least down here my company can fire me for wearing an Erasure t-shirt and i would have no recourse.
My father in law and mother in law worked for the FDA for over 25 years and for them the knowledge of having a stable and consistent job was very valuable even though private industry paid more. Its like down here the utility company SRP and APS jobs are very valuable and sought after even though the pay might be less due to the fact that the job is stable and consistent and in some ways recession proof. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a government employee feeling appreciation for a stable and consistent job even if they might find better paying jobs elsewhere.

My bad, that might have been MidNights take on the jab. I just assumed y'all the same.
Maybe gov't jobs shouldn't be as stable if they are so wasteful. There has to be a balance. If stability comes from wasteful spending, is the job really stable or needed to begin with? Every business has to pivot to stay afloat and if trimming fat is part of the pivot, gov't shouldn't be any different that private jobs. I'd have to imagine that with gov't benefits, the pay equals the private over the long run considering gov't gets some petty cush benefits and 401k matches. Not all private has that tax free match.

Well that generalization is trash right there, so if midnight says something then I feel the same way, what a load of crap.
I keep asking this and no response, why is it that your side thinks government employees are wasteful? Have you or anyone done an HR analysis to determine what the job requirements are, the parameters of high to low quality and how to help an employee who might be lacking to be better? No of course not, you watch Fox news or Musk on twitter blabber on about generalizations which have absolutely zero validity and claim it is so.
Ive known MANY government workers and I would say much like any other group of people there are the mean and then standard deviations of performance, like ANY OTHER group of people.
It would be better if people actually did the work and effort of investigating trash before blindly believing what some dope tells them and then claim it as fact, this is a lazy divisive and unintelligent approach to drawing conclusions.
Saying that there are lazy DMV employees as a foundation for all government employees being lazy and wasteful is quite obtuse and yet people do this every day to validate their partisan biases and actually be happy that their neighbors and fellow citizens are out of a job.
Fat in the government is Elon and his scams, defense contractors and their schemes, funding other countries and subsidizing farmers so we can have 2 buck a gallon milk and cheap corn derivatives...THAT is fat.

Have you ever delt with the DMV? That's all I need to know about gov't workers. On occasion I work with the govt bodies in my cities, they get Fridays off, every odd "federal" holiday off, they can delay as long as they want and there's no one above them to crack the whip to get shit done. So yeah, getting paid for a shit ton of holidays while private is at work getting shit done. I could get into details about my experiences, but I don't want to. My thought is the govt employees are not in a hurry to get work done, they take their sweet ass time and hold everyone else back. I watch how the spend their money on projects and the quality of the work. Have you ever seen companies bid on govt work? Throw the high number out and someone will get lucky.
I don't watch any news. Period. I turn that shit off.
I was responding to your message as I was reading and I'm going to leave the DMV part there because that is a microcosm of the govt work force (that does not mean 100% of govt employees but you get the gist). How the hell can the DMV be so back logged? Why hasn't anyone gone in and fixed the DMV? I imagine it wouldn't be difficult If the DMV was private, that shit would be dialed in because without efficiency, they wouldn't be in business. There's no unlimited funding waiting like there is with govt work. When it's your own capital on the line, you watch every penny. When you have unlimited funds, you slush that shit around because it's not yours. Just human nature to not give a damn about others money.
Would you have said the same about Elon if he was running DOGE under Biden and looking to bring more tech and efficiency to the govt? Maybe DOGE is a big FU to the govt for what they put everyone through during covid. With AI taking over private sector jobs (and govt) what's the difference with DOGE getting rid of those they deem redundant and inefficient? I know the answer, we need to keep giving participation trophies, cough I mean checks out. Maybe this is a kick in the ass to those other govt employees to stop slackin off and get shit done in a timely manor so everyone can keep moving forward.
Remember when liberals loved Musk and didn't get a damn about his help from the govt because they were waiting for the cars to be delivered? All the liberals that thought the "cLeAn EnErGy" was going to be the next oil and they started to destroy the world to make it so? Go Musk.

Ive thought Musk is a jerk for a long long time, Ive followed Tesla from the first day of trading in the markets and I have a decent grasp of his management style and the way he lies to push features of his product and takes advantage of his so-called technology while rarely if never meeting time targets that he himself sets.
As for the DMV, I have a completely different spin on it than you do and my conclusion is almost polar opposite of yours. Ive had to go there many times over the years and have gone to several different state DMV offices as Ive lived in several states and most all are the same in their dynamic and the flaws that exist. You see the DMV as a sign that the people are lazy and take advantage that it is some scheme and ploy. I see the DMV as a microcosm of any group of people and the dynamic of those individuals along with the fact that they are UNDER staffed and their technology is so far behind and then you add the demand of being customer facing it makes 100% sense to me.
Ive worked many years in customer facing positions and it is the most difficult mentally draining job anyone could ever have for many reasons. Dealing with the public on its own is miserable even on the best day, people are demanding and abusive they lack sympathy and understanding and are impossible to please in general. That is on a good day. Then you add that people who visit the DMV need to have certain things done in certain order with specific guidelines and requirements in order to make the tasks required complete and legal. To obtain a DL you have to fill out forms and provide proof etc etc and it has to be done a certain way or it cannot be legally issued and it is a PITA to do the same remedial task over and over knowing that people are going to mess things up and be frustrated with the worker for their lack of comprehension and frustration waiting then needing to do things over. Same goes with title transfer or sale of a vehicle or if a license is suspended to get it right again.
I have 100% sympathy and understanding for DMV workers because Ive worked customer facing jobs and I know that these people are in high stress jobs for low pay and have to deal with idiots day in and out and be abused often by the rude jerks which exist in society.
Last thing, you are flawed in your friday example...in the government employees sometimes CAN choose to work 10 hour days and then get every other friday OFF but it is not OFF they are working 45 hours a week getting alternate fridays off. It is flawed conclusions like this which people have and are 100% wrong and very judgmental which leads to weak observations and flawed narratives.

Yes. Plenty of studies have shown the government worker is less efficient and works less than the private sector worker. This is not even in dispute. Almost by definition it has to be this way. The private sector has to hold the workers accountable, whereas there is little government accountability for performance or productivity.

For example, this is from around the time Obama was pushing to look into it. So, it is natural to assume it has not improved, but likely worsened.
Based on this dataset, government employees work around three fewer hours per week and roughly one less month per year than private-sector workers. Substantial differences in work time persist even after controlling for occupational and skill differences between sectors. The underworked government employee should be of concern to taxpayers who expect private-sector levels of work in the public sector in exchange for private-sector levels of compensation.
The stereotype of the underworked government employee is frequently invoked in critiques of public-sector employment practices. Critics suggest that government jobs routinely feature shorter workdays, prolonged sick leave, and extended vacation breaks. But does the average public employee really work less than the average private employee?
The question is important for practical economic reasons and for broader political considerations. From a budgetary perspective, shorter work hours in the public sector may cause governments to be less efficient in converting tax dollars into public services. More broadly, the perception that government employees do not work as hard as private-sector employees runs counter to the spirit of public service. Voters need assurances that government workers receive no special privileges as a result of their employment.
The results show that private-sector employees work 41.4 hours during a typical work-week. Federal workers, by contrast, put in 38.7 hours, and state and local government employees work 38.1 hours.

Notice that I qualified my words very carefully, I did not and have not compared government workers to private sector for a VERY good reason. The concept of mean and standard deviation is what I used so if you are trying to disprove what I said please make sure to understand the parameters I am ONLY using.
In the pool of private sector employees or government employees, fast food employees, homebuilder trade employees whatever the group is there is a mean and there are standard deviations. If this is the poor logic Musk is using no wonder he is messing it up, he lacks context and the group he allegedly is in charge of analyzing. What a shock, Musk lacks the ability to properly assess the situation, I am just beyond speechless.

I keep asking this and no response, why is it that your side thinks government employees are wasteful? Have you or anyone done an HR analysis to determine what the job requirements are, the parameters of high to low quality and how to help an employee who might be lacking to be better?
It seemed the question was pretty straightforward. The study looked at it different ways and said: yes, they are wasteful.
Of course Musk knows what he is doing. He may be the best one to even do it. Look at all the companies he runs and has turned around. And i guarantee you he expects efficiency and productivity. Again, if not Musk, then who?

Come on guys Musk has gotten what he wanted. A treasure trove of data to feed his AI, with backdoors into every government system for any further need he has. He has set himself up to get more government contracts and fuck over his competition. I don’t know if he stopped all investigations into his companies but he certainly did major damage to them continuing. Hell, since Trump is now pardoning corporations, it wouldn’t be surprising if he pardons all of Elon’s companies as a reward for a job well done.

Of course Musk knows what he is doing because you say so...I will pass on this schtick you use, just because you say so does not make it so. I do not agree with your contention on Musk in the slightest but I will not require a dissertation from you to have a conversation, thats how great of a person I am.
The quote you gave in the comment above was of course twisted by you yet again, the context was that an analysis from those kids has not been done, that is the context. An HR analysis has not been done, they have not taken the time to create a job requirements and measurement of performance for each job let alone any and as per what I said in the word salads before this is the proper way to do a fair and accurate and meaningful RIF and that takes time and analysis, they are not seeking to make the government better they have followed the project 2025 agenda and taken a chainsaw to departments which do not have lobby and PAC representation to protect them, they are the zero faceless low paying jobs which have no impact on spending and are nothing more than talking points to erroneously brag about in social media as we have seen.

If the DMV were private (I think in some states it might be) the cost would be much higher as the government funds the DMV, I do not think that a private firm would be able to or should have access to private data and do so in a more cost effective and efficient manner. It is like saying UPS could take over USPS, it is just a laugher at best due to scale and requirements.
If we want a better DMV then that comes at a cost and who wants higher costs? Not too many.

Do you have RIF or HR experience? Given your answer that is a NO...they are not doing any of what you are laughingly suggesting, nor would taking past data from the cruddy government be of any help right? Since these guys are dead weight and useless why would you take data from that source?

Not just the DMV. It is just the one most people use and know. I gave you the TSA the other day. You can see it in any government-run place. Post office, local Board of Education, Farm Bureau, Veteran’s office, NASA, any local tax office. It is just the normal way of seeing them. So it is actually surprising when you hear about or see a local government office that runs well and everyone really seems to be working when you go in the building. Talk to any of the folks that work at a base and they will tell you how poorly run they are. Most of these places simply have too many people employed and not enough of them actually working. A lot of them do not treat folks that come in as a customer like you would see in a private run business. This is just silly to question whether something needs to be done to address this or not.

I meant must be done . Sorry . But that’s priceless . “ musk be done “ hahahaha hahaha so funny . Freudian slip perhaps . Hahahaha . I love this place . The guys at work aren’t gonna believe this when I tell them . Seriously that was rich . I did it again .
BACK PATTING and KISSING threads are like passing HAM SANDWICHES around over and over-wall

You are leaning on the private vs government, is this the only retort you have because I have not at any time tried to compare the two and for good reason...they are so dissimilar it is silly to try and compare.
It would be like comparing service at Jack in the Box to Mortons...well both are serving food why is it that the service at JIB is so brutal and food quality so bad when at other FOOD places it is so different and better?
Your logic stops when you force a narrative with more characteristics which are dissimilar than are similar. I guess you have one thing that is similar, private sector is people working and government sector is people working, there you go a solid correlation right there.

@Rush51 If the DMV were private (I think in some states it might be) the cost would be much higher as the government funds the DMV, I do not think that a private firm would be able to or should have access to private data and do so in a more cost effective and efficient manner. It is like saying UPS could take over USPS, it is just a laugher at best due to scale and requirements. If we want a better DMV then that comes at a cost and who wants higher costs? Not too many.
Forget about about UPS, Amazon has pretty much eliminated both ( USPS and UPS) to their " last mile delivery" . Again, do I need to repeat how great Capitalism is ? It has displaced one private operator ( UPS ) , for a much bigger and efficient operator ( Anazon). USPS is a dinosaur in a world of operations efficiency.
On the road.... Has anyone bothered to take a look at how many semis are Amazon these days ? FedEx and UPS are dwindling....
