Schumer shutdown continues to endanger Americans

I'm saying I agree with what he inferred regarding the quote being about racial equality. You state that it is RACISM, I completely disagree it was not racist if that is how he took it or how you took it. Speaking that equality and diversity is something to be proud of is not racist.

She and her husband have been strong proponents of equality and that is something I agree with, the US needs to move out of the 1800s and into the present and that means all colors and genders should be equal with pay and opportunity and unfortunately that is not the case.

Patriotism does not mean bow down to the white male, it means the opposite.

 Have you investigated what the place is going to have? of course not. If you want to find out go look but not sure why you would even waste the 30 seconds as you are one of the most partisan people here and would rather walk on hot coals than be open minded about what might be there. 

Too bad I have seen that it will be awesome and no self promotion or brand sizzle so maybe that is not your cup of tea.

But look at what so many ‘assumed’ she meant.  It was not a ‘throwaway line’ in the speech.  
There were so many better ways it could have been written. 

I don’t think she felt ‘patriotism’ and ‘bowing down the the white man’ were connected if she meant equality.  You can still be very patriotic and acknowledge issues in the country. 

I think too many folks get equal opportunity mixed up with equal results. 
But I do not think she is one of them.  Look at her and her husband’s success.

She (or her speech writer) worded it very poorly at a time of the least racial division in the country and a great time of expectation.  Then the ‘clarification’ was not any better.
That is not what she should have to be remembered for.

 I do not think it was written poorly, she is one of the most educated intelligent public speakers in this country but you are entitled to your view. She can speak and not have to clear it with the white crowd or the GOP and if a woman who is not white wants to speak about equality then more power to her. 

FWIW your comment about equal results is pretty sketchy to me, the white male establishment since this country was founded has shaped the "results" in a way that we can never overcome. I would say that this country would be much further along and better if women had been running the government and most countries outside of white town have a very diverse mix of culture and gender. In many ways the US is living a century plus back and the white male crowd dares to cry about merit based measures. 

Good for Michelle I enjoy listening to her insights and intelligence, we need more like her in this country.

 I don’t know if she wrote it or not.  
But it was very poorly written.  
Just look at it now.  
It is still open to interpretation. 
We see two people here with two different interpretations of what she meant. 

It does not detract from her being smart or a good speaker.  
All it does is point out that it was a bad line by whomever put it in there.  
She should not have to come back and attempt to clarify it — and still not even do that very well.

No other non-candidate I can think of has had a speech they did remembered this way.  Then can have it left open to interpretation. 
Especailly, when it is mixed in with it patriotism for one’s country at a presidential campaign.  

It would almost have been better to have come out and flat out said it if she meant racism or equality or something else along those lines about the white man.

No other candidate has had one of their main campaign points put under the microscope so early because of a non-candidate speaker.

Why not?  Seems to have come a very long way. Seems to have overcome an awful lot.

I think optimism is much better.  You can say the same for the country the red male, yellow male, brown male, or black male established.

Then you can see which ones have come the furthest.

I just think folks see equal opportunity and expect equal results.  It is not designed for that — on purpose.

Again, she was not the candidate.  So, I am not sure what insights she has that you enjoyed listening to.  I have not kept up with her if she has talked about policies or anything like that really.  I have stated that she is intelligent and is articulate and seems very likeable and a good family lady.  

What else has she talked about besides this that you took one way and others took another way?

Please dont minimize the damage that was done in such a demeaning obtuse way. This country was founded and still runs off white privilege and that spans hundreds of years so spare the everyone has a shot routine it is just embarrassing. 

Why make this comment as you have not "kept up with her"? If you have no context then why make the comment? I doubt you are sincere because you pull the old TELL ME routine you do as a passive aggressive but if you are sincere then go spend time finding out as that is the best way versus telling someone else to do the work for you.

This position can be articulated and juxtaposed with the places I referenced?

I cannot ever diminish the country when I just told you that you live in the best country in the world.

I am asking you for the context on her ‘insights’ that you enjoyed listening to.

I do not know them. That is why I am asking.

I have only talked about her poorly worded speech.

 You diminish the country by minimizing the situation as you did. Everyone has a fair shake stuff or that anyone can try is insulting and uneducated to say. The foundation of this country was built off inequality and suppression. If you seriously wanted to make the playing field level you would reverse the power matrix and suppress the white male dominance and let that stew for 50 years maybe 100. 

Of course you said the country was great, you and I and most here have benefitted from the oppression of minorities and women so as white doods what can we complain about?

The Obamas narrative needs to be forwarded even more than it has if as a country we were at all serious about equality and fairness to everyone not just white men.

Go research her with an open mind, wait you are incapable of having an open mind or earnestly seek something that does not follow your partisan views so just skip it and try to deflect a little more.

I am not going to waste my time sharing my research with a closed minded partisan individual as you are, if you want to educate yourself then get cracking and learn something new.

If you have researched her, you should be able to rattle something off the top of your head.

I just assume she was speaking to help her husband and she has said she does not want to run.

So, if he has some great insight that is so enjoyable I would be open-minded about it.

What was hoped, indeed expected, by a lot of people to be a unifying time for the country did not happen and a straight line can be drawn back to this.

As I said, he was behind before he got elected on that issue.

As our moderator-in-chief , I expect better from you Wall.  She did not state """ Fact """  as you suggest, but rather """ Opinion"""". 

She stated a simple comment suggesting this is the first time in my life I'm proud to be an American........ is not fact.  Again.....  this statement is not a "fact" . buy rather an opinion..... 

How can I begin to debate you if you can't differentiate fact from opinion  ?

She was honestly conveying her feelings to the public.. that's my take.   Look it, Things are so scripted in today's world,  but it felt so unscripted  and honestly came across as a jaded American that had never loved her country  ( i.e. proud to be an American) .  

That is my synopsis...

You never debate you throw down your partisan anger and then you either implode and cannot handle my replies or you go and ignore them.
