Actually, as a percentage of their population, more of them understand Der Führer of the GOP is a bonafide POS, than the percentage in our own country.
Only the ones who pay nearly $200 for a license to watch tv. The have police driving around with detectors looking for those without a license and are watching tv. 
Of course if your legally blind, half price.

I can tell you the same thing again in here - first off it is correct that it isn’t police officers - it is normal people that work for the tv license company (and they can only issue fines if you don’t pay but have a TV cause if you do - you have access to their TV stations)
It is because most (maybe all - I don’t know if it is all of them) countries in Europe has an independent news media platform - that is mandatory to have and pay to if you own a TV or computer - and the short explanation is that we do it to combat corruption etc. - because we have learned from the past - your country is already corrupt (DR in Denmark often /almost daily makes TV programs where they try to show scams and corruption in our system - and they actually work - since governments and bad actors have to change their way after their methods are exposed)
So yeah we do pay a license if you have a TV - but it is close to nothing and you can deduct it through your taxes so as long as you have a job - you basically don’t pay anything

I have found most police officers to be normal people.
TVlicensing.co.uk says; TV Licence Officer visits you when we have no record of a licence at your address, and we haven’t received a reply to our previous letters. We need to check if you’ve been watching, recording or downloading TV without a licence.
If we receive a search warrant from a magistrate (or sheriff in Scotland), Officers are able to enter your address without your permission.
We can ask for a search warrant when we have reason to believe the law is being broken. The Officer will be joined by the police when they visit.
NORMAL people cannot go to a magistrate and obtain a search warrant. 
Guess that's why they often referred to as "TV Police".

In US there isn’t much difference between a citizen and a police officer except they legally can both steal from you and shoot you without getting in trouble (they can’t do neither here) - as in US it only takes 21 weeks of training to become a police officer (that is less than a plumber)
Here in Denmark it takes 3 years to become a police officer - so there is a big difference
and these are normal people that work for the license office (they have nothing to do with the police - but sure I guess they would call the police if they had proof you had a TV and didn’t pay your license - but then they would enter your apartment and either found out you had lied or you didn’t have a TV etc. - isn’t that much different than if they suspected you of stealing over there and they couldn’t enter your apartment - then they would also just force entrance - and worst case scenario you get a fine)
- but we are basically discussing now if it is ok to steal or not ! Here if you want to have a TV you pay a yearly license to get the independent mandatory channel - else you don’t own a TV - and that is that discussion
DR is a public owned platform (if someone watch them here without paying they are essentially stealing from me) - I get 4 channels (sending 24/7) and an online achieve where I can find everything they have send for the past 30 years in their achieve - and this year it will update so it goes all the way back to 1956 - they have some of the newest movies - sports events etc. and everyone can see this here - so I don’t think it is unfair to pay something - you also pay for Netflix and your internet provider
