now that being said, the lions NEED to trade down, however i just dont think anyone will fall in love with a guy that much to offer us good value to jump up... we'll pray for someone to have an outstanding combine. id love to see them trade down and get... Micheal Oher(LT Ole Miss), Taylor Mays(FS USC), Vontae Davis(CB Illinois), Duke Robinson(G/T Oklahoma), Malcom Jenkins(CB Ohio State), George Selvie(DE USF), Brian Cushing (OLB USC), Alphonso Smith(CB Wake),
ANY combination of these 3 with their first 3 picks would be awesome. they DO NOT NEED A QB. if you put a decent offensive line around stanton, kevin smith, and calvin johnson, your offense will be young and good.
now their defense... they need an entire secondary, an entire linebacking core, and... well... a fucking entire d-line fuck it they need seriously 11 more starters on defense. oh my god, ive seriously never seen a team not have 1 defensive player that could start on any other team. maybe dwight smith, maybe ernie sims if he was taller...
i played in high school with stanton, so maybe im a homer, but i really dont see it that way. the guy is an absolute stud, and plays with his head and heart more than his arm/legs, which is saying alot because he has a hell of a set of legs and a cannon arm. i really do think if you give him a shot, he will save this team. i could be wrong, but look what he did at state with an absolute rag-tag offensive line, and decent recievers(ehh emm... the lions)...
well see and i hope they do build on the lines and the secondary...
Kwame I'm a bigtime Lions homer but what makes you trust Stantons health at all? He can have all the talent in the world but the man has yet to even start a game and still stays injured. I just don't see it if he can't stay healthy for the few opportunities he gets. Until we get a decent line he's toast

They would be beyond stupidity if they draft Bradford #1.
1. Not that physically gifted/good locker leader 2. Plays almost exclusively from the shot-gun 3. HAS NEVER HAD TO MAKE ANY DEFENSIVE READ AT THE LINE.
The last 2 would make him a project player and that's yrs of development, that's not something you do w/ the 1st pick overall.
With success of Long at Miami, they will do the safe thing and pick A. Smith. I don't think he's as talented as Long. As bad as Lions are, ur #1 overall better comes in and hit the ground running, off. linemen tends to be better at doing this.

Crabtree & Maclin - duh!!!! They may have to trade away some other draft picks but I figure with some deft draft day manuevering, they should be able to get 4-5 solid wideouts for another successful campaign on 2009
