Who will the Lions draft with the first overall pick?

Every time I see Andre Ware, I start flipping my lid on how easy he had it with the Lions.

I forget what his signing bonus was, I think $5 million (which is a joke nowadays) for a # 1 pick and I think he made $1 million annually for sitting on the bench and watching for what ? 5 years and then started late in the last year of his contract and didn't do a damn thing after that except go to the CFL where he played for Toronto and did nothing then retired to be a commentator !

Talk about a waste of a draft pick !!! What a joke, then again so is following the lie Downs after Barry retired.

You do bring up an excellent point.

They've wasted so much money over the years signing # 1 picks that they are on the hook for a lot of money for this foreseeable future and they still owe Matt Millen something like $5 million and they're just at the point where they're tapped.

You can go back to Charles Rogers, 2 years & out, all kinds of scenarios like this where the top draft picks are not even in the league anymore and it hasn't even been 7 years. I can't remember most of the scenarios without doing research, which if I did I'd be sick and it's not even something I should care about.

The bottom line is they have to start from the top, they've taken the interim tag off the GM and the season is not even over !

They don't want to go anywhere, because they can't afford to. The last GM they had that had any success was in the lane nude Wayne Fonts era, when they drafted guys like Chris Spielman, Lomas Brown, Buba Baker, Doug English and the likes of those guys who were around for over 10 years and were happy to be here with reasonably productive people around them. Many defensive guys I can't remember now, for the life of me but it held them in games.

Without football management, don't get too worked up over what the Lions will ever do in the coming years out until 2012.
