    never happened in the pros?

is this because the hash marks are further out? are Wilson 1001 and 1005 college balls slipperier than those Wilson F1100 "The Duke" pro footballs?

maybe it hasnt happened yet just because it hasnt happened YET?

Sorry, there is no middle ground here.  Some things are debatable, this isnt, and if you cant see it - or better yet insist on debating that the sky is yellow instead of blue, have at it.

I agree taking a knee is a slightly better percentage play, however you could also make a case that someday a team will take a knee and lose  because of it.

You could make that aurgument either way , highly, highly likely if enough teams do this stratergy eventually a team will lose bacause of taking a knee.

ignore the penalties? maybe an earthquake would be extreme, but there are things that could happen that would derail the "victory formation". wow mouthbreathing?  you stuck up this thread for whatever reason, to piss on people most likely. everyone understands that you're kneeling plan is the best option but act all holier than now when people discuss silly ideas on your fucking topic? get a grip

    Actually, you're projecting.

You can't cite an instance where a team has scored and then lost in the scenario you've outlined.

It is a "mistake" because you, mouth breathing moron, say so.

It is possible to make probabilities without an event acutally occuring in history.

For instance, a scientist can tell you that the world ending because of a nuclear disaster is much higher than the world ending because of a boy with a toy gun.  Has the world ended before?  No.  Can we make probabilities about it?  Yes.

Im not able to cite a specific time a team won because another scored in those exact circumstances.  Maybe it has happened before, maybe it hasnt - my inability to cite a specific case has no bearing on the probability assigned.

I feel stupid for even typing the above.

    Correct.

It COULD happen.  I gave you this about 10 posts ago.

Are you still making the argument that it is more LIKELY to happen than for the other team to score, get the onsides, and score again?

That is the discussion here, welcome to the adult table.

my inability to cite a specific case has no bearing on the probability assigned.

    Um, ok.

Except for the fact that the word "probability" means:
A number expressing the likelihood that a specific event will occur, expressed as the ratio of the number of actual occurrences to the number of possible occurrences.

    You have no number.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

So you are telling me that the getting beat with a straight flush to the K isnt less likely than getting beat with ace high - EVEN THOUGH IT HASNT NECESSARILY HAPPENED?

Every time I think covers cant get dumber, the bar is lowered.

You are actually using terms you don't understand and making assertions you can provide no evidence for.

But you know what you're saying is true.

    You just know it...

It is possible to make probabilities without an event acutally occuring in history.

    Hysterical.

Again, you don't know what probability means.

It is obviously too big a word for you.

Then I guess the same applies to the vast majority of people who posted in this thread who say it isnt even a discussion that you are wrong.

I would like to know something though:  Do you actually believe that kneeling 3 times carries the same fail probability as kicking off with 1.48 left up 2 td's?  SImple question.

    A probability is:
A number expressing the likelihood that a specific event will occur,

    You can't provide a number.

You can't cite an instance where someone scoring instead of taking a knee has lost.

    Just like you called names.

The lack of an event occuring does not preclude you from stating a probability.

You can piece together what it would take to occur to form a probability.  For instance:  You can look at the likelihood of a team scoring 2 td's in 1.48 with 1 timeout.  Then you can compare that probability to the amount of times a team has fumbled a kneel down.

What is so hard about this?

Are you saying trying to say that you cant assign a probability to this situation because the exact situation has never occured?  Huh?

    I will say this:

If you think the chances of successfully completing 3 kneel down plays is LOWER than the chances of a team scoring 2 Td's in 1.48 with 1 timeout, then you should state your case.

But to say that you cant assume those probabilities because it has never exactly happened historically, then I will call you a moron (not loudly or pounding the table, just quietly, but you are still a moron).

So until a team loses a game by not taking a knee and goes up 14 points instead vs. a team taking a knee and fumbles the snap, neither has happened ever, so right now both are 100% perfect ways to end a game. Until one of these things fail to win the game at the end, then you can start saying which one is the better percentage play, until then you will have to stop it with these type of threads about how you think you are so superior to rest of the world.

Unlikely?  Yes.  Miracle?  Maybe biblical scholars would argue that.

I've already seen about 2-3 hail mary's this football season so there is always a chance...Cam Newton had one against South Carolina before halftime and then in the ECU/Tulsa first game of the season the game was decided on a hail mary. Not to mention you can get flagged for PI which really makes it interesting.
