Obviously we aren't getting anywhere with the debate.

I am not saying games haven't been fixed, and I am not saying it's not possible. I'm not asking for proof in that regard.

This BostonCeltic character has stated that the NFL and Vegas control the results of the games, and alter the outcome of games involving heavy public money.  I asked for his theory/proof on this, and got ZERO responses with anything remotely plausible.

Good luck with your conspiracy theories. Some of you guys are WAY out there!!   It boggles my mind that some believe that the NFL is rigged yet still wager on the games.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, and leave it at that.  I have already expended enough energy on the matter.

Good luck to everyone on their plays, no matter what you believe.

Vegas has all these refs in their pockets. Do you realize the variables in a football game? Vegas has all the insider info and a little help from the refs. Anyone whos thinks different is a fool. Too much money to be had. NCAA is blatant in their rigging games.

That's cool BK....Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions.  This last post shows a bit of HOW, but I think you want accurate, documented proof.

People watch because they have money on the line, not because they watch and they put money on the game!!! if there was no gambling viewership will suffer HUGE!!! NFL is #1 sport because it is #1 in wagers!!!  If they let these games just play out as they should then VEGAS would not be able to sustain their books.  NFL helps VEGAS by rigging some games so it is mutually beneficial for both of them at the expense of the public.  Key to capping is pricing all that in when capping games!!!

Cleveland beating Minny last week was a classic example.

People always say this but I dont think its true. The people gambling is small compared to people actually watching because they are fans. Besides once I place my bet I hardly ever watch unless there is live play or 2nd half bet. You guys are mostly off your rocker very reckless, putting forth allegations but cant point your fingers to anything specific.

I wouldnt bet on both those dogs. Normally its 50/50. You saw last week, 2 lines larger that 15. Sea -19-20 and Den -15.5-17?

One of those dogs win. Now you can count both Favs last week covering, but you Den at -16.5 lost. Therefore I say Den lost. I bought a hook to 17 and won it. Thing is you have to figure out which game will cover. Jax is a good play at +9 imo. They might look like garbage, but they beat Indy last yr SU and theyre no diff a team than last yr.

OBVIOUSLY STL, because the NFL hate Colin's tattoos and want him to pay for it, by telling the refs to call the game against the Niners to insure his loss, and the bookies will win because everyone is on SF.  Plus the Niners are making the NFL look bad by getting DUI's and what not, the NFL obviously hates that and would RISK LOSING BILLIONS of dollars from sponsor's investments and million's of viewers just to fix this game.  Plus that insures the public loses a few thousand dollars to show them who's really in control.  Plus the money's coming in on SF and the line is not moving.  Lastly, when you see Colin on the phone on the sidelines it's actually the NFL telling him to fumble it again to make sure he follows his script.  He is an actor first, before an athlete, after all.

Basically every reason you can think of, except for football reasons.  STL, lock it up.

After 15 pages you still don't know how these guys think?!?

I'm waiting for the theories on how SF won this game...where was the fix?  How come "Vegas" and/or the NFL didn't fix this game??  How did SF cover so comfortably?  Did they actually let these actors (so called atheletes) play a real unfixed game of football?

Can't believe I lost minutes of my life and probably a few IQ points reading this thread.

"The fix the fix, I lost my money so there's a conspiracy against me".... What about the 50% of bettors on the other end of that bet... Or what about the times you won your bet because of an insanely lucky outcome??? Jesus Christ

Capping sports is a lot like poker, u need to take luck into account, both ways, and when get unlucky, take your loss like a man and realize you've bin (and you will be again) on the other side at some point... Lets get back to capping and trying to be on the right side 55-60% of the time.

    It's only a fix when it's a close game.

Why wasn't this game fixed though?  Based on the info in the thread, it seems this would have been an ideal game to fix.

Public was heavy on the Niners.  Fix it so they win, but don't cover, right?

Game was a primetime game, so fix it to keep it close and keep the people tuned in.

Maybe the key Niners players didn't check their emails before the games.  The refs too, as they got both those review right that were in favor of the Rams.

Or maybe Vegas is going to whack some NFL players and refs this week because they didn't live up to their end of the bargin.

Oh wait, the game wasn't close.........so it wasn't fixed.  I see how it works.  We watch the games, and THEN decide what was fixed.  So any game that is blowout, not fixed.  Any games that are close to the number, fixed.

Or maybe, just maybe, the Rams have NO rushing game and allowed the Niners to pressure Bradford, who isn't a great QB to begin with.  Maybe the Niners just have a little more talent than the Rams.

So please tell me why this game wasn't fixed?  Were the Knights of the Vegas Fixing Round Table unable to offer the Niners enough money to dump??

Please let me know what games might NOT be played on the up and up this weekend (NFL only).  I want to keep an eye out for it.  You guys seem to be in the know, and have this all figured out, so this should NOT be ANY trouble for you to pinpoint.

Coming in here, and stating AFTER the fact that the game was/wasn't fixed is ridiculous.

Do games look fishy at times? Sure! But person like this is exactly why people are growing tiresome of it. This guy would FOR SURE be back in this thread with "I TOLD YOU SO" right after the game if his prediction happened to be right but if not, he would just disappear and wait for next similar thread.

Well, I will try to offer at least one of their theories : Vegas has to let public to win from time to time to keep them interested. Basically, anyone can find any reasons AFTER the games to convince that they are right.

    Exactly.

That's why it's hard to reason with these people, because when things don't go "their way" they just change their tune, or story.  Which is easy to do when there is sound basis in place to begin with.  They seem to always know all the reasons why a game would or wouldn't be fixed AFTER the fact, but fail to apply to same reasons to any game BEFORE.

Right, you can sheer a sheep many times but only skin him once.

I don't buy that theory in regards to fixing NFL games however.  Of course, the basis for my argument is that Vegas and the NFL make so much money, there is no need to fix anything.  Especially considering the unbelievably complex system that would have to be in place in order to fix the games.  The risk/reward is not even CLOSE to being proportionate for this to be a practical way for the NFL or "Vegas" to make money.
